Job Description

Supervises the provision of assistance to person(s) served in order to promote their physical, social, and psychological well-being, including staff interactions with person(s) served, and promotes the rights of the person(s) served to achieve an enhanced quality of life.

  1. Ensures that each person served has an activity schedule developed and implemented and monitors and ensures staff follows procedures to promote optimum health care and behavior supports, including implementation of services outlined in person(s) served service plan and staff training.
  2. Monitors and ensures staff completes all documentation as required to ensure quality services.
  3. Monitors employee labor hours and ensures assigned service sites are operating within budgetary guidelines.
  4. Responsible for person served funds, receipts and proper documentation.
  5. Ensures that staff are deployed appropriately and that staffing ratios are compliant with regulatory and service plan requirements.
  6. Ensures schedules are prepared and posted in a timely manner and efficiently utilizes staff.
  7. Conducts timely performance reviews and conducts staff counseling and corrective actions including work improvement plans and follow-up.
  8. Provides timely and appropriate feedback and oversight on staff documentation, including daily progress notes, data sheets and incident reports.
  9. Assists with the review and tracking of incident and accident reports and participates as needed with investigations involving persons served and employees at assigned service sites.
  10. Ensures applicable OSHA compliance standards are met and all related training occurs. Documents training and compliance in accordance with Dungarvin regulatory requirements.
  11. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Preferred BA/BS in Business, Health Care Administration or Social Science

    or high school diploma/GED and equivalent work experience of three years
  • One year of supervisory experience required
  • Previous experience providing services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or related disorders preferred
  • Experience managing systems, processes and people
  • Must meet all agency requirements for pre-employment as required by Dungarvin and/or State regulations

HOURS WORKED:

Full time expected to work 40+ hours weekly. The Area Supervisor’s schedule must be flexible to accommodate various program, individual, and staff needs. Office hours are typically 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday. Events such as staff and individual meetings, advisory board meetings, etc., do not always fall within the usual hours, but Area Supervisors are expected to attend. Individual events, such as staff and individual gatherings may fall outside of the usual working hours. Additionally, effective supervision of staff requires the Area Supervisor be present at various hours in the home to monitor performance, including late night, early morning, and weekend hours.

Area Supervisors will find it necessary to work direct service shifts.

The Area Supervisor is on call at all times to receive emergency calls unless prior arrangements have been made for someone of comparable authority to assume this responsibility. On call responsibility may rotate be shared with other program directors in some areas.
