Job Description

Summary:

Participate and lead a team of operators to meet targets set on each shift for safety, housekeeping, quality and production. The group leader is expected to act quickly to correct operating conditions outside of standard and report all situations that are beyond normal conditions to the supervisor in a timely manner.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist in appropriating and adjusting personnel to meet production demands.
  • Monitor and work to improve plant and/or departmental performance metrics including production output, scrap and run rates hourly; carry out trouble shooting activities as needed.
  • Perform quality assurance functions: identify and resolve potential production non-conformances.
  • Maintain consistent communications and collaboration with cross functional team members regarding inventory levels, material usage and any production issues via reporting.
  • Communicate with departments as necessary to ensure that established processes comply established safety standards and operational standards
  • Conduct audits for safety and housekeeping during the shift; actively facilitate and participate in safety incident investigations.
  • Understand and consistently apply company policies and procedures.
  • Drive and champion culture of Continuous Improvement within team
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • 4+ years of experience in a high-volume/high-output manufacturing environment, preferred.
  • Leadership experience in a current or prior role, preferred.
  • Experience in metal forming capacity, preferred.
  • Must be able to work overtime during the week and weekends as required.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office – Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Prior experience operating powered industrial vehicles, preferred.
  • Must have prior experience in interpretation of the processes and procedures as well as communicating effectively to the team.
  • Must be able to work within established health, safety and quality standards.
  • Must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using whole numbers/decimals and the ability to apply concepts of business math to practical situations.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position, within typical manufacturing working conditions. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be exposed to fumes, heat and dust, climate variances and moving mechanical equipment typically found in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is high when exposed to the manufacturing areas. Certain personal protective equipment is required when in the manufacturing areas. Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to grip, grasp, reach, push and pull with hands and arms, walk, stand, speak and listen. Occasionally climb, kneel, bend, sit, mount and dismount power industrial vehicle. The employee must frequently lift, push and pull 5-25 pounds and occasionally lift, push and pull up 25-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required by this position to include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
