Job DescriptionSr. Cloud Automation ArchitectJOB SUMMARY:Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. is seeking a remote Sr Cloud Automation Architect to join our CIS/SIS Corporate team! The position virtual remote position and can be located near any of our major US and global locations. The role seeks a highly motivated technical role responsible for the identification, design and implementation of technologies that support and enable cognitive intelligent automation solutions for the Thermo Fisher Scientific multi-cloud architecture.The position reports into the Director, Infrastructure Architecture and will play a key role in crafting the future of digital innovation that targets the company's automation strategy and services. We are looking for a Cloud Automation Architect to lead the strategy, vision and roadmap of corporate automated solutions and have shown automation scripting hands-on expertise combined with strong presentation. This is a highly technical role that requires expert Azure platform experience with deep Automation frameworks knowledge. In this role, you will lead and drive the overall cloud automation strategy and will be working alongside sharp, like-minded automation specialists, software developers and solution architects. As an Automation Architect, you will lead, improve, and enhance automation practices and tools selection by demonstrating innovative ideas while leading automation initiatives. You will proactively identify and implement automation strategies to improve reliability, stability and using automation and self-service initiative across a multi-cloud architecture.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESArchitect, design, and enable solutions that enable automation across the enterprise through a strong partnership with various domains.Research, evaluate, design, and implement IaC automation solutions for Azure (primary) and AWS using the best of breed technologies that meet or exceed customer requirements.Have a customer first approach to deliver single click self-service modules to enable the company’s internal customers and help with a DEVOPs transformation.Hands-on experience with Cloud Automation and Orchestration technologies such as: Ansible, Terraform, Packer, Cloudify, AWS CloudFormation, Azure ARM Templates Experience working in a collaborative workspace using agile sprint methodologies and tools including Jira, Git, Azure DevOpsStrong agile & Scrum skills with accountability for end-to-end delivery including planning and estimating workloadLead the automation strategy and roadmaps & Manage technology standards and adaption.Effectively articulate and communicate technology alternatives to a variety of audiences across various product factories/leadership.Research and set paths toward the use of new and developing technologies for automation needsWork with technology leaders, product owners, solution architects for developing roadmaps, frameworks, reference architectures, and artifacts. align on strategic direction, translate business requirements into technology roadmaps and participate in planning how roadmaps will be realizedSeek consensus from other architects before making key architectural decisions in technology, processes, and people topicsParticipate with engineering leads in the design process to ensure detailed designs adhere to and are consistent with the target architectureLead evaluation of next generation technologies by conducting RFI, RFP, and POCsPerform an annual update of the vision, values, methods, obstacles, and measures for your domainsConduct a quarterly update/review of the technology roadmapParticipate in business partner and vendor product roadmap development as a method of realizing our visionLead the automation community of practice, technology talks, external events, conferences, and customer briefings for Thermo Fisher Scientific automation practicesCollaborate with the business, engineers, administrators, operators, and support staff to ensure technology architecture is realistic, secure, supportable, and usableBuild, publish, and implement automation technology guidelines and principlesResponsible for development and maintenance of the automation architecture frameworks and approaches for your domain, governance and tooling, domain leadership role in the Infrastructure Architecture TeamResponsible for steering / driving the most important and sophisticated future planning activities and projects.Involved in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the research / investigation, selection, development, implementation and use of automation technology and platforms within the organization.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, other relevant subject area, or equivalent practical experience.Enterprise Architecture, Cloud architecture/services, Architecture Design Principles.Operational experience SDLC with GCP, Azure and Azure DevOps based cloud native application architecture/design and development.SDLC, Product Management, automation and testing framework and agile methodologiesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in architecting and designing solutions for automation enablement across enterprise.5+ years of relevant architecture, application development, information analysis, IT management or operations experience working on complex global enterprise ecosystems involving integrating SaaS, on-prem and cloud applications in Pharma industry.Experience in design and development of automation frameworks and automation testing strategies for large scale applicationsStrong background in technologies, including both internally developed, industry packaged solutions, and cloud-based offerings.Demonstrated and proven passion for emerging technologies.Expert knowledge with automation standard methodologies in IT operations, security, applications, data and infrastructure maximising both on-prem and Cloud technologies.Experience as an enterprise/solution application architect with demonstrated expertise in emerging technologies and platforms as well as applying this knowledge in application designing, implementing and managing business process area technologies / ProductsKnowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks and methodologies (e.g., TOGAF) is a plusKnowledge of Agile development, DevSecOps practices, Azure/GCP Cloud, APIs and microservicesExperience in seeking the alignment of business and IT, driving common approaches, delivering sustainable, re-usable solutions using both agile and waterfall. Demonstrated ability to motivate change and challenge the status quoAble to demonstrate application/technical breadth across Enterprise Technology portfolioPossess influencing and leadership skills, collaboration through coaching and mentoring with excellent verbal and written communicationThe ability to describe complex & abstract technical concepts up to board level.Compensation and BenefitsThe salary range estimated for this position based in Georgia is $130,000.00-$214,475.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
