Job Description

The Accounting Specialist is primarily responsible for all phases ofreceiveables and payables such as cash applications, monthly reconciliation of accounts payable to the general ledger, vouchering invoices into the QAD system, ensuringoriginal documentation is complete with authorizing signature and appropriate supporting documentation (purchase orders and receivers, determiningthe correct account for posting, paying suppliers in a timely manner, coordinates signatures and filing all pertaining documentation and identify cash discounts where applicable.Follows all business and safety policies. Assists as needed in other areas of business/manufacturing.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

The Accounting Specialist is primarily responsible for the weekly processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable cash application Performs all accounts payable relation functions for purchases Raise any issues to Staff accountant who handles AR issues Ensure original documentation is complete with authorizing signature and appropriate supporting documentation (purchase orders and receivers). Determine the correct account for posting. Identify and take cash discounts where applicable Generate checks, coordinate signatures and file all pertaining documents. Maintain accounts payable records in an orderly fashion, including check registers. Monthly reconciliation of Accounts Payable to General Ledger. Communicate well with Purchasing agent for various issues Update work instructions as necessary Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Follow all rules, regulations and work processes set forth by the company. Have knowledge of sales and use tax and apply according to KY and CT regulations Performs assignments in accordance with ITW policy, procedures and generally accepted accounting standards. Maintain a safe working environment. Attend any ITW required training include but not limited to; safety training, policy training and other training activities. Other duties as deemed necessary to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of college; plus 2 years of experience in an accounting role required.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and applications; including but not limited to payments, accounting, and budgeting.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports.
  • Able to handle supervisory responsibility, if necessary.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills; demonstrates good listening skills; able to communicate status on process with colleagues, keep team members informed, and responds clearly to vendor inquiries. Demonstrates a positive and friendly attitude in working with all levels within the organization.
  • Independent and organized work style:Effectively manage time and prioritize work load, assume and manage multiple tasks without close supervision, adapt to change, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong technical skills / aptitude: Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, PowerPoint,and Excel) and general office equipment.
  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information.
  • Regular attendance is required; working during normal business hours showing up at the designated time. Some overtime may be required.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Office environment. Primarily sitting with optional standing and walking.
  • Ability to lift approximately 40 lbs.
  • Use of computer monitor, keyboard and mouse.
  • Low degree of danger or hazard associated with job.
  • Able to wear appropriate PPE (safety toed shoes, safety glasses, earplugs or any other required PPE) when in specified areas of the facility.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance; showing up at the designated start time, working during normal business operating hours. Some overtime may be required to fit business needs.
