This is an exciting opportunity with an Electrical Distribution company in the New Orleans area! This person will work for a dynamic, growing and well established company that prioritizes family and incorporates occasional work from home days.

The overall objective of this position is to implement all design components with a focus on achieving leading cycle time, delivering superior quality, and reducing per-unit costs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Increase project efficiency by effectively developing and adhering to design techniques and processes
  • Provide technical guidance as a subject matter expert for Electrical Engineering consultative services regarding areas of material selection and design concepts which maintain integrity of all customized products, comply with applicable industry standards and meet client specifications.
  • Support best in class manufacturing with a focus on cycle time, quality, and value by efficiently maintaining internal department processes and providing professional expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, required

Experience:

  • 5+ years of Electrical Engineering design experience in the Marine, Heavy Industrial and/or Oil & Gas industries, required.
  • 3 years of electro-mechanical power system design with low voltage, medium voltage, power distribution and controls, and motor control centers (including passive and active arc flash protection), required.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Intrapersonal Skills - Self-motivated and able to identify, examine, and resolve issues independently from others. Holds a strong regard for guidelines, procedures and integrity.
  • Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Ability to evaluate and select components to meet specific customer requirements
  • Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Knowledge of Software and Hardware technology for the custom design activity for PLC's (Allen-Bradley, Quantum, Premium, etc.) hot standby systems as well as relay and relay-based programming for under voltage and protection using Basler, Multilin, Sepam, Zelio, Woodward, etc In addition, communication protocol using Modbus, Ethernet or Fiber Optic
  • Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including 3D Electrical Design applications such as Autocad Electrical, EPlan, Promis-e. Proficient with Microsoft Office Business Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) as well as MRP/ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, AS400, Ask Manman.
  • Codes & Standards -Knowledgeable of UL Standards (UL-1558, UL-891, UL-67, UL-508, UL-845 and UL-DLAH). Familiar with regional utility codes in Chicago, New York, California, etc.
