Job Summary:

Lead process engineering efforts to identify and define the scope of specific cost justified projects for inclusion in and execution of the CAPEX plan. Lead process engineering support to demonstrate continuous improvement in preparation of turnaround work scopes in advance of major outages. Work with other disciplines within the Engineering Department as well as Operations, Maintenance, and EHS, to ensure solutions meet overall business objectives.

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities (in addition to Process Engineering duties):
  • Lead process engineering development of scope definition of specific cost justified projects.
  • Ensure AFE quality cost estimates, including mechanical installation budget estimates, are developed for inclusion in the capital plan. Ensure estimates are completed within the specified time constraints.
  • Ensure prompt preparation and review of documents by the process engineering department, including PFDs, P&IDs, scopes of work, and equipment specifications to support capital improvement project budget authorization requests and approved project execution. Ensure detailed written justifications for management approval are provided.
  • Facilitate detailed engineering support and prompt process engineering execution through the Management of Change process to ensure timely execution.
  • Ensure pre-turnaround process engineering recommendations are provided in advance of major outages.
  • Ensure known work scopes are completed to support planned turnarounds, including associated work identification and scope freeze points.
  • Provide process engineering expertise to ensure project installation is performed as designed, and projects are completed on schedule.
  • Advise, mentor, and train engineers in the department on the project development process, from concept development through project execution.
  • Continually evaluate ways to improve site safety.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with all departments.

Successful candidates will have:
  • BS degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university. (Chemical Engineering degree strongly preferred).
  • Seven or more years of engineering related experience in the oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience with capital project development and/or execution preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) required. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel of all backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability and willingness to collect field data, enter process equipment for inspections, and otherwise work in an operating chemical facility environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work alternative shifts/schedules to support 24 hour/7 days per week operations during process unit startups, shutdowns, upsets, and catalyst reductions.
  • Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).
  • The ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause.
