Job Summary:

Lead process engineering efforts to support the operation of the site production, storage, and loading facilities. Lead process engineering support to demonstrate continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve plant efficiency, reliability, and EHS performance. Works with other disciplines within the Engineering Department as well as Operations, Maintenance, and EHS, to ensure solutions meet overall business objectives.

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities (in addition to Process Engineering duties):
  • Advise, mentor, and train engineers in the department to evaluate plant performance, develop relationships with plant operations team and other key stakeholders, and comply with department/site procedures for engineering activities (e.g. EWR/MOC, HAZOP, and LOPA).
  • Track Process Engineering assignments for action items generated by PHAs, incident investigations, and risk assessments. Ensure process engineers properly prioritize their action item assignments to meet required completion dates.
  • Lead development, tracking, and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each operating unit (e.g. production metrics, process efficiencies, product yields, catalyst life, emissions, etc.)
  • Facilitate detailed engineering support and prompt process engineering execution through the Management of Change process to ensure timely execution of non-capital or small capital plant modifications.
  • Ensure pre-turnaround process engineering recommendations are provided in advance of major outages.
  • Manage Process Engineering resources to support Operations and Maintenance in planning specialty/emergency work, performing equipment inspections related to process issues, monitoring equipment repairs that affect the process, coordinating catalyst replacements, and assisting with plant restarts.
  • Direct, ensure, or facilitate process optimization, troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical support to the operations organization.
  • Continually evaluate ways to improve site safety.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with all departments.

Successful candidates will have:
  • BS degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university. (Chemical Engineering degree strongly preferred).
  • Seven or more years of engineering related experience in the oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience with capital project development and/or execution preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) required. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel of all backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability and willingness to collect field data, enter process equipment for inspections, and otherwise work in an operating chemical facility environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work alternative shifts/schedules to support 24 hour/7 days per week operations during process unit startups, shutdowns, upsets, and catalyst reductions.
  • Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).
  • The ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause.
