Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. The Advisor designs, installs and administers storage systems, processes and enhancements for complex high traffic, business critical communications and/or network-based (cloud) product systems. Leads the development and maintenance of enterprise storage environments, including enterprise storage arrays, fiber channel switches and Network Attached Storage (NAS) physical and virtual tape devices. Develops solutions and processes for reliable and stable data storage management, security, backup, restoration, archiving and replication. Assists with the implementation of new or additional storage technology to improve infrastructure service locally and remotely.Storage Engineer Requisition- Implement Network Attached Storage (NAS) and related technologies such as CIFS, NFS, iSCSI and NDMP networking protocols
- Knowledge of managing SMB/CIFS and NFS file shares, creating file shares, managing permissions, and quotas.
- Implement disk management concepts such as RAID groups, Aggregates, and LUNs
- Utilize NetApp Data OnTap Cluster Mode Version 9.3 Operating System and later.
- Work with Data OnTap application layer tools such as Snapmirror, Snapvault, Snaprestore, Dedup, Thin Provisioning, and Snapdrive.
- Experience in patching/upgrading storage firmware and provisioning storage to Virtual Infrastructure (ESX).
- Collaborate with Technical Operations, DBA teams and end-users to assess future growth and capacity requirements.
- Being knowledgeable on Storage Techniques such as disk compression, storage deduplication, data encryption, and thin provisioning; and when and how to implement these on various data types.
- Proactively research new and/or updated technologies as they come available that pertain to our environment.
- Providing specifications and detailed drawing for network and storage architecture
- Providing assistance in troubleshooting support for storage and services utilizing storage.
- Proactively monitoring and resolving problems with network and storage. Oftentimes network devices/ports throw errors and being able to identify this and resolve these issues.
- Ensuring stability and availability of the network and storage platforms. Being able to roll forward on OS upgrades by using the Netapp OnTap Procedures for failing over the heads to eliminate any noticeable downtime.
- Support Development, QA, Staging, Production and DR network environments used by our Software Development teams and end-users.
- 10 years of experience in Storage Engineering with NetApp and related technologies
- 5+ years experience in designing, managing and/or assessing complex IT infrastructures
- 3+ years working with UNIX/Linux systems
- Excellent knowledge of IT Infrastructure and how systems are interconnected and accessed.
- Knowledge of infrastructure, including firewalls, load balancing, VPN, networks, SAN, NAS
- Needs to have excellent customer service practices as this position will be working a lot with end-users on completing requests and troubleshooting storage issues.
- Familiarity with backup technologies, e.g. NetBackup, preferred - possible cloud backup practices and migrating data to the cloud.
- Some experience with implementing Security Technical Guidelines (STIGs) and writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
