The Green Project is a non-profit serving New Orleans since 1994 to develop a culture of creative reuse by managing a salvage store, processing recycled paint, diverting usable waste from our landfills, and developing the next generation of environmental stewards.

We are looking for an individual to join our team in the paint recycling department to keep usable latex paint in circulation!

Primary duties include:

-Collect unwanted but usable latex paint from donors

-Organize incoming paint according to color and other standards for future processing

-Inspect paint for quality assurance and ensure it is stored properly

-Recycle and decant paint

-Work with management to stock and oversee paint sales floor

-Maintain, clean, and inspect paint recycling equipment

-Coordinate the recycling, scrap, and disposal of empty paint cans

-Communicate effectively via radio with staff

- Assist with salvage store tasks as needed

Qualities of the ideal candidate would include:

- Experience in a fast-paced work environment

- Exceptional organizational skills

- Highly motivated to get the job done

- Professional, punctual and detail-oriented

- Strong communication and customer service skills

- Ability to differentiate colors and hues of paint

- Willingness to learn new tasks and go above and beyond expectations

- Tolerance for working in hot and cold weather

- An enthusiasm for reuse and sustainability

- Ability to lift 40 pounds

- Experience with paint a plus
