Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking an Maintenance Mechanic to support CMC Recycling in Shreveport, Louisiana. As part of the CMC team, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for continuous monitoring of all equipment and systems for proper operation, troubleshooting and identifying equipment/system issues and implementing safely predictive/preventative/corrective measures to ensure asset reliability. With an uncontrolled climate the position's working conditions include exposure to heat and cold. This is an hourly position with a work schedule of Monday-Friday, which may include some overtime to include at least four (4) hours on Saturday. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: List the essential functions, duties and responsibilities of this position, in order of importance. Performs preventive maintenance on engines, hydraulic systems and stationary equipment.

Troubleshoots malfunctions on equipment and repairs.

Operates mobile equipment loaders, forklifts, trucks, material handlers and other various equipment in the plant to troubleshoot equipment.

Complies with safety procedures and regulations at all times.

Ensures all jobs are completed in a proficient and safe manner.

Performs a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, reaching, bending over, climbing, and kneeling.

Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Willing to learn; enjoys tackling new challenges.

Is organized and shows attention to detail, with a "get it right the first time" mindset.

Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.

Works well with team members or independently; gives and receives feedback in a constructive manner.

Experience and Skills Requirements: List knowledge, experiences and skills that the person will need to apply to perform or be successful on the job.

Minimum 2 years' experience with basic knowledge of hydraulic systems, engines, mobile equipment and vehicles.

Ability to troubleshoot, rebuild and repair gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.

Must be able to perform minor repairs and routine tasks efficiently, correctly and safely.

Must comply with all plant specific rules, procedures and duties.

Great organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.

Ability to work in extremes in weather temperatures to include working in non-temperature controlled environments.

Ability to stand for duration of shift, up to 8 hours; frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs or reaching to work with equipment throughout the entire shift.

Ability to deal with uncertainty and work with or without supervision.

Must speak and understand English language in verbal communication.

Must be able to work Monday thru Friday; which may include some overtime to include at least four (4) hours on Saturday.

Education Requirements: List required and desired education levels

High School Education or GED preferred.
