Location: Augusta, ME Description: Our client is currently seeking a Permitting & Environmental Engineer who will assist with its utility clients to plan, design and manage the execution of various Electrical Utility projects including rebuilding, expanding, and upgrading of existing aged substations, distribution, and transmission lines in the state of Maine.
These Utility assets are being upgraded to the latest standards to increase capacity, reliability, and security. These projects are estimated to take 3-5 years to complete.This job will have the following responsibilities:- Make recommendations to maintain and improve environmental performance.
- Review environmental regulations and determine whether they're being applied properly.
- Review storm water management practices for municipal, industrial, and construction storm water programs.
- Create and maintain air quality management systems that comply with air permits and air regulations.
- Report environmental incidents to plant management, including mishaps such as internal spills, external releases, potential permit non-compliances, and upcoming regulatory inspections.
- Lead or support the preparation and negotiation of various environmental permit applications.
- Interface with different regulatory agencies, prepare needed documentation, schedule required testing, and provide any necessary, additional follow-up documentation.
- A bachelor's degree in environmental engineering.
- Must be licensed as professional engineers (PEs).
- Must have Distributed Generation (DG) experience.
- Project management skills: You must have good project management skills and be self-motivated.
