(INSTRUCTOR), Position Description Number D2298000/ D2308000 and

Operations function. Aircraft include KC-135R, KC-135T, and KC-46.
Configurations vary between Boom, Drogue, and MPRS refueling. This
is an Air National Guard (ANG) Dual Status Technician position
requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment,
and classification. The purpose of this position is to perform
in-flight refueling aircrew functions and activities according to
flight manuals, checklists, and Unites States Air Force
publications. This is a developmental position to the full
performance position of D2298000, Aerial Refueling Technician
(Instructor), GS-2185-10.Major Duties:
1. Performs in-flight refueling aircrew duties. Checks forms for
equipment status. Performs visual and operational check of air
refueling and associated systems and equipment. Performs preflight,
through-flight, and post-flight inspections. Accomplishes preflight
and post-flight records and reports. Performs in-flight operational
check of air refueling systems. Directs receiver aircraft into air
refueling position. Operates in-flight air refueling controls and
switches to safely affect contact between tanker and receiver
aircraft. Monitors control panel for proper operation of equipment
during air refueling, and advises receiver pilot of actions required
to safely maintain position within the air-refueling envelope. Keeps
tanker pilot informed as to progress of air refueling operations.
Performs emergency operations and procedures as required for
emergency off-load and on-load of fuel. Computes and completes
aircraft weight and balance documentation. Visually monitors
aircraft clearances (interior and exterior), identifies proximal
threats to the aircraft and initiates corrective actions (aircraft
scanning).D2298000This position is located in an Air National Guard Aviation Unit, Air

provide ground and flight training instruction for developing,
upgrading, and evaluating the skills of aerial refueling aircrew
members; as the sole enlisted aircrew member performs aerial
refueling technician duties on assigned missions; and assists the
pilot in the operation of the aircraft by performing duties
associated with loadmaster, flight engineer and navigator
positions.MAJOR DUTIES:
Instructor/Evaluator duties and responsibilities include
providing ground and flight training to develop and upgrade the
skills of assigned Air National Guard and Active Duty aircrew
members, administering flight evaluations of aircrew members and
instructors, and evaluating the effectiveness of the aircrew
training program for the squadron commander. In-Flight Refueling
requires knowledge of the full range of crew duties and
responsibilities to include knowledge of methods of instruction;
knowledge of aircrew training program requirements, procedures, and
standards of performance; and skill to apply this knowledge in
planning, developing, and executing unit training and evaluation
programs. Conducts training that maintains the highest level of
combat mission-ready proficiency of assigned crew members,
instructors and examiners. Determines training requirements by
analyzing unit training objectives, missions, combat readiness
reports, flight examination reports and directives. Develops lesson
plans in accordance with syllabus courseware. Develops, establishes,
validates and maintains unit training programs. Reviews prior
training and experience records of newly assigned refuelers to
determine and plan the type and level of training necessary to
achieve the required level of proficiency or skill. Prepares
individual training records, along with a training syllabus with
projected units of training required. Provides course outlines and
adapts lesson material to meet the training needs of particular
situations or students and/or supplement existing training materials
with approved texts. Provides feedback on contractor course-ware and
instructional effectiveness. Plans and conducts ground training,
including simulator and procedures training in operational/mission
requirements, equipment operation, correct method for performing
aircrew duties, and applicable emergency procedures. Schedules and
participates in flights with refuelers to observe in-flight
performance, demonstrate proper procedures and techniques, and
evaluate progress. Coordinates with scheduling and training offices
in the development of training scenarios which provide effective and
efficient upgrade, proficiency, and currency training, maximizing
resources.
