Job Summary: Provide respiratory care to adult and pediatric

patient populations.Education/Experience:

RRT required.

Current Maine License or eligible to obtain required.

Pediatric and neonatal adult critical care experience preferred.

Other skills required: ability to interact with patients,

physicians, public and staff in a pleasant, positive and professional

manner; mechanical ventilation initiation and management experiencePhysical Requirements: Color vision is required to assess the color

of skin and mucous. Close up visual acuity is required in order to

accurately draw up medications for aerosol and instillation

administration; to read small gauges and dials; to identify the

epiglottis and to intubate the trachea of adult, pediatric, and neonatal

patients. Hearing acuity is required to hear and identify breath sounds

with the aid of a stethoscope and to hear respiratory therapy equipment

alarms. Manual dexterity is required to operate ventilator control

knobs, oxygen delivery devices, video display terminals; to disassemble

and assemble all types of respiratory therapy equipment; to perform

manual chest compressions for CPR, chest percussion and vibration for

chest physiotherapy; to tracheal intubate and suction; to obtain

arterial punctures. Requires standing or walking 95% of the time and

may require walking at 0.5 miles/hr. Requires tactile sensitivity in

fingertips to palpate radial, brachial, and femoral arteries for

puncture. Requires lifting and turning patients of up to 250 pounds

with or without assistance and wheeling heavy equipment and gas tanks.

Requires the ability to withstand air or ground travel for patient

transport. Ability to meet positively the hospital's standards

regarding unscheduled absences.Working Environment: Involves working closely with others and in

stressful situations; involves repeated exposure to infectious agents,

secretions and body fluids; involves ground or air ambulance travel for

transport.
