POSITION SUMMARY: Provide a bridge between the patient and their

healthcare provider team. The Patient Advocate helps patients overcome

obstacles to receiving the healthcare they need and deserve. This

includes and is not limited to financial, transportation, lodging,

medication assistance, billing, coding, medical records, prior

authorizations as well as assistance with all the necessary paperwork

involved in obtaining medical coverage.WORK SHIFT: 3 days a week; 8 hour shifts working 8a to 4:30p; Work

days will be every Friday and the other two are flexible Monday to

Wednesday.MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School diploma and completed a

course in medical terminology.PREFERED EDUCATION: Associates degree or higher in a field of

business, medical, pharmacy or social services.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Five years in a medical setting

providing financial services, pharmaceutical, nursing, PAS,

Registration, Collections, face to face contact with the patient and

have excellent problem solving and communication skillsPREFERED EXPERIENCE: Working one on one with individuals while

assisting them with financial concerns during a very difficult time in

their life. Must be caring, compassionate and be able to work in a very

stressful busy environment. Demonstrated ability to communicate

effectively across all levels of healthcare a necessity.OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: Must be organized, a team player and be able

to continuously learn and keep up with the constant changes in

healthcare coverage.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Typing, walking, talking on the phone.WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Pleasant office space in a busy

multidisciplinary oncology clinic consisting of four or more practices,

20 plus providers seeing hundreds of patients a day.
