We're Green Clean Maine, an award-winning, eco-friendly house cleaning and housekeeping service based in Portland, Maine, and we're growing! Help us bring Green Cleaning to hundreds of Portland-area clients by joining our support team as a General Maintenance Assistant.
The Job:
The General Maintenance Assistant position contributes to efficient and economical operations through a variety of responsibilities that are vital to our daily operations. We are looking for someone who is an early riser (work day will start as early as 6 AM in the winter months) and who can offer flexibility with their schedule to support our team. Compensation is competitive and based on experience.
A typical day on the job's responsibilities:
- Ensures supplies are prepared and ready daily for technicians. Distributes supplies for the day to technicians.
- Collects reusable cleaning linens and unused supplies. Washes and sorts linens for next day's use closely
following sanitary protocols.
- Maintains inventory of supplies within established budget. Performs inventory counts and prepares supply and
equipment orders.
- Maintains cleanliness and performs minor maintenance of field (cleaning) equipment and minor repairs to
facilities.
- Maintains cleanliness and performs semi-skilled maintenance of company vehicles. Schedules routine and other
maintenance, interfacing with outside mechanics.
- Maintains safety of external grounds by ensuring day-to-day order and cleanliness and performing light
seasonal lot maintenance such as shoveling, sanding/salting walkways and cleaning snow off vehicles.
- Performs light janitorial duties to maintain cleanliness of office and work space.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- GED/High School Diploma is required.
- A valid, unexpired driver's license is required.
- 2+ years of general work experience. Experience maintaining and fixing minor repairs on vehicles and small
tools or equipment preferred.
- Must have attention to detail
- Ability to self-manage the workload with minimal direct supervision
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions
- Reliable and punctual with a dedicated professionalism to job and duties
- Able to adapt to changing schedules or routines; strong time management skills
- Organized and able to follow a schedule
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the General Maintenance Assistant must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and the employee occasionally works outside in all weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to cold, wet and/or humid conditions.
