SUMMARY

Plans and carries out shipping of finished product to customers by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Adhere to all safety rules and use proper PPE.

Conduct yourself in a manner to prevent injury to yourself and others.

Report unsafe hazards or conditions.

Practice mentoring, shadowing buddy systems.

Reads and interprets production orders to determine customer's product packaging requirements (i.e. crating, skids, pigpens and so on), and where responsibility lies for shipping costs.

Creates instructions for manufacturing as to what type of packaging will be required for customers' order (These instructions include package types as well as Bills of Material for all ship loose items.)

Determine from packaging and engineering drawings what form of transportation is required and quantities of trucks, etc.

Contact customer when they are responsible for freight. (Where customer is responsible, assistance is given to assure packages are shipping according to their specifications.)

Contact carrier representative when freight is company's responsibility. (Where company is responsible, make sure carrier meets the requirements of the packaging.)

Electronically produce packing lists and any other paperwork for shipments such as Commercial Invoices, Certificates of Origin and Shipper's Letters of Instruction.

Product shipping labels and affix them to outgoing packages as well as affixing packing lists to appropriate packages.

Ensure through ERP and receiving that all materials have been properly charged to completed jobs and then electronically ship those jobs in ERP so that orders may be invoiced by Accounting. (Copies of packing lists and Bills of Lading are provided to accounting as verification that this process has been completed.)

Performs several clerical tasks such as producing Bill's of Lading, keeping ongoing records of shipments, filing original paperwork for each shipment and filing complete or inactive production files.

Maintains supply of shipping packaging for small items such as letters, catalogs and drawings. (UPS supplies, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent. One-three years shipping experience. PC skills, understand WEPI processes, knowledge of freight terms, forklift license.

Performance of this job requires that the person have a basic understanding of the shipping industry and what is required by any method, including common carrier, flatbed, by air or internationally.

Basic knowledge of computers as well as comfortable grasp of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Some degree of comfort with reading engineering drawings.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Basic math skills are required in the performance of everyday functions.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
