Oak Hill Beverage is a single location, independent high volume, customer service focused, friendly wine and craft beer retail store with greater Portlands best selection of wine and craft beer. We feature 1800+ wines and 800+ beer labels! We are about the craft, culture, and experience of wine and beer.
The shop is open year round, closed on Easter/Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years plus a day. Winter is slower but its crazy fun in summer months and holiday season. With many amazing regular customers, summer residents, and visitors, customer service is paramount. Our small team consists of a handful of exceptionally dedicated and hardworking folks who dont mind wearing more than a few hats and stepping in to help out wherever needed.
Store hours: Sun 12-6, M-Th 9-7, F-S 9-8; Thursdays June-August 9-8.
You: Must be available to work 3040 hours/week all days of the week including pre and post holidays. Schedule TBD.
The Job: You have a strong desire to learn more, are comfortable on the phone, are physically capable of working for periods of time on your feet and have the ability to lift cases of wine (30-50lbs), and are genuinely enthusiastic, a team player, naturally friendly and happy person who enjoys being around and talking to lots of different people with different needs. Even though we do have a slower season, even then we can get slammed with a line so you need to handle retail rushes with confidence and precision while maintaining a friendly and interested in helping attitude! There could be opening or closing shifts in the schedule.
Basic duties:
Register: Consider this a primary duty (it's a form of customer service!). We have two registers with only one open many days. Very basic to operate but obviously attention to detail is key! You can handle issues and mistakes without losing control.
Receiving, Merchandising, and Maintenance: A shop should look full. You will learn where back stock items are located, which vendor supplies us, insure prices are ok from invoice to shelf. In a slow month we receive over 225 cases of wine in a month!

Maintain a clean and well-organized stock area.
Maintain and clean, and, help keep a well-organized sales floorits a retail shop, bottles get purchased, bottles get dusty, shelves get dusty, glass gets dirty Bonuswe have a vacuum robot that does most of the floor!
Sales and Customer Service: Greet and (eventually) determine the needs of every customer that walks through the door. Provide floor assistance, know what is new, follow up about special requests, phone people with confirmation. Must be precisepeople plan events and buy supplies from us, we need to be accurate.
