Experienced Small Engine Technician

Maine, Maine 00000 Maine USA
Apply Now

We're looking for an experienced small engine mechanic for our mobile service.

You'll work inside one of our heated box trucks repairing and performing maintenance on snow blowers, lawn mowers, portable generators, and various other small engine equipment at our customer's locations throughout York and Cumberland counties. We don't work outside in the cold other than for a few very brief rare occasions. Our trucks are set up to make it easy to work outside the truck during the nice weather too.

Our truck are well equipped with 120v power systems, nice interior lighting, liftgates, air compressors, power and hand tools, and other essential inventory. Everything you need to do your job is in the truck. All you need to bring to work is a good attitude for a positive customer experience, your skill set and your lunch. We provide everything else. If you lose a tool, you'll be required to replace it. If you break a tool, than just give it to me and I'll get you a new one.

We work Monday through Friday during the daytime hours. No nights or weekends. If you'd like to work a half day or a full day Saturdays during our two busy seasons every year we can accommodate that, but it is never required.

We're not looking to train a newbie or someone who's had a little bit of casual experience working on their own equipment or their friends equipment. We are a professional company, we stand behind the work we do, and we'll expect nothing less than the same of you. We're looking for experience, quality workmanship, and professionalism, period.

I'm not opposed to training someone coming from another mechanical discipline, such as a turf equipment mechanic, skid steer , fork lift, or other equipment mechanic, but you must have some verifiable experience. This is very different than automotive work, but many of the same principles do apply. So yes, your other mechanical experience will count, but experienced small engine techs with verifiable experience go directly to the top of the list.

You must have a reasonably clean driving record, No OUIs, no crazy speeding tickets or other major violations. If our insurance company doesn't like you, then it just won't work. You don't need a CDL, but you do need to be able to back up and maneuver a 16' box truck in tight quarters without any incidents, ever.

You must be able to pass a background check. You don't need to be squeaky clean, but we have to be able to trust you and so do our customers.

You must have the people skills to effectively communicate with our customers. Not everyone understands how this kind of equipment works and when they need repairs and have some questions about it, you must be able and willing to explain it to them without being defensive or arrogant.

If this sounds interesting to you and you think you have what it takes, send me an email describing your experience and include your phone number and we'll talk.
