Who we are

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Software Developer to support our data science work with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, MD. As the organizational expert in the field, the Software Developer designs, develops, and implements statistical and analytical methods, examines processes and systems to consolidate and analyze diverse data sets including structured, semi-structured and unstructured. In addition, you will develop and source software programs, algorithms, dashboards, information tools, and queries to clean, model, integrate and evaluate datasets for use in various machine learning algorithms. You will also develop hypotheses based on data analysis and trends and compare real-time results with predictions to update and fine-tune algorithms. Recognized within HII and the technical community as an authority in one or more technical specialties.

The team operates in an agile scrum cycle with direct support from HII engineers and industry recognized subject matter experts. Our software developers are expected to be able to interface with HII management, government leadership, customers, vendors, and other technical professional, and be able to translate and communicate requirements to all concerned parties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Python and data frame manipulation techniques.
  • Integrate data structures into algorithm designs and develop system documentation.
  • Manage large data sets and database architectures.
  • Develop database design queries.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and develop data visualization products.
  • Manage machine learning workflows.

What you need to have:

  • Bachelors degree in related field with 5 years of experience; Masters degree in related field with 3 years of experience; PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with statistical concepts.
  • Experience collaborating with functional experts to drive solutions.
  • Experience transforming unstructured data into usable formats for model ingestion.

Bonus points for:

Understanding of:
  • Database management.
  • Statistical analysis.
  • Analytical methodologies and technologies.
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and feature selection techniques.
