At the WG-3, Electrician Helper Trainee and at the WG-5, Electrician Helper.Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable team member. Typical duties include: Assisting journeymen mechanics and workers with work that cannot be handled alone and entry level tasks Being taught on proper usage of power and hand tools common to the trade. Being taught how to correctly install neat cable bands with protective rubber, developing a proficiency in this entry level tasking; installing transit blocks in the transit frame; de-installing cable; installing cable, etc. Taught how to neatly and safely wire two and three wire power and control circuits; receiving training on entry level connectors utilized in marine vessel systems, etc. Fabricating connectors utilized in marine vessel systems, display ability and aptitude to terminate connectors.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentU.S. Citizenship is required.Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.QualificationsNational Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
