Piper Companies is currently seeking a Lab Operations Specialist for a innovative biotechnology company focused in cancer research in the Baltimore, MD area.
Responsibilities for the Laboratory Operations Specialist include:- Follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) throughout the process of testing samples
- Receiving and accessioning samples, entering data in LIMs systems, centrifuging, working Hamilton robots and biobanking
- The ability to conduct lab procedures while adhering to CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) and GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) standards
- In charge of managing specimens and materials throughout the testing process
- Test blood samples using IVD (In vitro diagnostic) kits
- Perform DNA isolation and quantification, separate blood, prepare NGS (next-generation sequencing) samples, and run immunoassays
- Maintain and update documentation for testing data
- 2+ years of experience in molecular biology (Accessioning samples, performing DNA and RNA extractions, running PCR, etc.)
- Experience following GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and other regulated Laboratory Procedures (CLIA, CAP)
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or other science-related field
- The ability to work in a high-speed team environment
- Candidates must be available to work rotating weekends as needed
- Salary Range: $22-$30 per hour
