The position is currently remote but will eventually return to on-site work in Woodlawn, MD. In this role you will be an active member of the HIGLAS-HOM Linux Team performing analysis, configuration, installations, upgrades, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, patching, compiling, securing and repair of Linux servers in a heterogeneous environment. The right candidate will work well with a team, exhibit excellent customer service skills at all times and be self-motivated seeking ways to improve the environment. ALTA is supporting Hosting, Operations and Maintenance (HOM) services for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Healthcare Integrated General Ledger Accounting System (HIGLAS) program. On this program, Starry/GDIT is responsible for providing proactive and predicative Operational management and engineering support of the HIGLAS enterprise environment, including but not limited to: RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide technical expertise in the areas of system design, installation, configuration, tuning, capacity planning, troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Participate as necessary in the validation matrix role to independently test and validate solutions to ensure fulfillment of all business requirements, compliance of regulations and quality of solutions.

Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains system documentation, tunes system performance, and installs system-wide software.

Install new software, troubleshoot, grant permissions to applications, and assist in training lesser experienced users.

Perform system updates, make recommendations on server configurations, and implement changes in multiple environments from test or development to production.

Monitor infrastructure, systems operations, and critical application services 24/7; provide information and statistics relevant to system limits on capacity, data storage, system utilization, etc.; respond to critical outages and restore services within agreed upon service levels.

Experience developing and interpreting detailed installation instructions and supporting documentation to effect system design deployments.

Interact with the Program Manager, Team Lead, customer, and site staff occasionally attending regularly scheduled customer meetings to keep the customer informed of activities and progress, answer customer inquiries concerning all aspects of the various the program.

Experience with Red Hat RHEL 6/7 and Oracle Linux 6/7

Extensive Oracle Exadata (X6,X7,X8) and Exalytics (X5-6,X6-2) experience

Advanced knowledge in Exadata QPD patching as well as applying patches to Exalytics servers

Maintain and Support Virtualization technology using VMware and Red hat Virtualizations.

Experience with maintaining/overseeing Oracle Exadata Database Machine architecture

Experience with managing multiple Oracle Exadata Database Machines

Experience with implementing Exadata quarterly upgrades/patches, to include rolling patches

Experience with performing firmware upgrades, managing Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM), Cisco patching, infiniband patching, and network tuning

Experience with replacing any failed components on machine

Experience with managing critical hardware information and database machine alerts

Experience with monitoring celldisk, griddisk, cell flash cache, & flash disks

Experience with maintaining storage availability during patching as well as storage cell patching

Experience with coordination/documentation of all installs/configurations/patches including application schema changes

Monitoring Cell desk, grid disk, Cell Flash cache, Flash disks

Maintain storage availability during patching and other maintenance tasks

CellCLI, ExaCLI, dcli commands execution & administration

Starting & Stopping Exadata Cell Server Software

Configuration and administration of ASM Disk Groups, rebalance operation by using Exadata Storage Server

Monitoring and administration of Operating system and its components (Disks, mount points, Packages, Users etc.)

Connect to Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM), verify current system state, identify hardware issue or restart system, and review logs for root cause analysis.

Implement proper system patching to address security vulnerabilities and accurately report security incidents

Demonstrated success in automating server builds, standardizing images, and managing Linux systems via central management tools such as Satellite, Spacewalk, or Puppet, etc.

As part of a 24/7 Service Desk, perform the activities associated with the management of dedicated ticket queues to include prioritization of work and assignment to technical resources for resolution of end user concerns while ensuring service levels and objectives are met.

Monitor dedicated queues and assign tickets to appropriate resources for troubleshooting and ticket resolution.

Work with hosting manager to escalate or reassign tickets as needed; ensuring proper assignment of tickets as well as facilitation of resource allocation based on work load

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

BA/BS, 10+ years' experience in Oracle / RedHat Linux Engineering and Administration

3+ years of experience in Exadata/Exalytics Nodes
