Ensures that training is consistent with and in compliance with laboratory standard operating procedures and American Red Cross policies. Ensures an organized and complete training program utilizing input from supervisory staff and Education Department.Coordinates and tracks preventative maintenance and validation of equipment. Serves as Point of Contact (POC) for validation and implementation plans.Performs departmental Problem Management duties including investigation of problems, development and tracking of corrective actions and effectiveness checks. Ensures all Problem Management timelines are met. Acts as a Suspect Product Core Team member.Writes and coordinates writing and revising IRL procedural and training documents.ResponsibilitiesCoordinates training with the Education Department, department head, supervisors, trainers and staff. Oversees department training activities and staff as directed. As directed, assists in evaluation of training effectiveness.

Assists education staff in development of IRL curricula. As directed, documents training and competency activities in Biomedical Integrated Training System (BiTS).

Performs competency assessments of IRL staff annually and as needed. As assigned, provides documented communications to IRL staff as required by transmittal sheets and implementation plans.

Grades tests contained within training tools. Maintains appropriate documentation.

Monitors the training progress of staff, adjusting the training program as necessary to meet the needs of the laboratory and the individual in training.Reports trainee progress to IRL manager/supervisor.

Acts as departmental lead for transmittal and document package implementations. May develop or participate in change management plans.

Serves as POC for problems, corrective actions and effectiveness checks. Attends root cause analysis meetings as assigned. Ensures all Problem Management timelines are met.

Processes any combination of reports which may include: customer complaints, material review board process, supply and equipment problem deficiency reports.

Serves as POC for validation and implementation plans. Coordinates, assigns and tracks equipment preventive maintenance schedules and validations.

As assigned, writes and maintains departmental operating procedures to assure that they are in compliance with regulatory agencies. Consults with technical team leads and subject matter experts to ensure accurate and complete documents.

May assist Education Department in development or revision of Training Implementation Plans. May perform annual review of procedures and version control.

Archives departmental records in accordance with System 7 guidelines and AABB Standards.

Performs other related duties as necessary.

Technical training as a MT/ MLT/BB is desired

Minimum three years of blood bank, transfusion service, pharmaceutical or biomedical laboratory experience; blood center experience preferred.

Training and quality assurance experience is preferred. ARC experience is preferred.

Excellent organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively, analyze problems and recommend appropriate solutions and ability to assimilate information quickly.Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to deal with all levels of staff. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database applications; presentation applications preferred
