Job Description: Apex Systems, LLC is immediately seeking a Lead Responsible Engineer in support of a Leading Energy Company in Baltimore, MD. The qualified individual shall review all projects (active or planned) identified for each site and provide a recommendation as to how best to combine work for quick execution. The evaluation for each site will require a review of the scopes of each project, the current design schedule of each project, the current construction schedule of each project, the type of drawings needed for each job, and the duration required to execute a combination of the projects before a recommendation is made.

Location: 1068 N Front St, Baltimore, MD 21202 (2-3 days in office)

Duration: 6-9 month contract, with opportunity to extend.

Compensation: Competitive based on years of relevant experience & education

Job Requirements:
  • Execute strategy for all project or program D&E activities
  • Support the determination of resources needed to execute D&E activities (In-house/OE/EOC) at the work screening call
  • Lead the development of the RFP for OE and/or EOC who will bid on the combined projects
  • Lead the review of the bids submitted from the OE and/or EOC for technical content
  • Onboard & manage EOCs and OEs
  • Lead the development of the technical scope documents for each combined work (by the EOC)
  • Provide technical direction to EOCs & OEs during design and engineering
  • Provide oversight, quality assurance and delivery of preliminary and detailed D&E packages
  • Support development of engineering schedules and estimates. Driving D&E activities identified in schedule
  • Support the procurement of major long-lead equipment required for project execution
  • Lead the development of the RFP for the COC who will be responsible for construction
  • Lead the review of bids submitted from the COC for technical content
  • Support the internal project team OR Owner's Engineers as they provide D&E technical support of construction, commissioning, and closeout activities
  • Support project manager as project gets executed by addressing all technical concerns
  • Ensure project is effectively tracked in Primavera P6
  • Lead a lessons-learned review upon completion of detailed design and engineering as well as after project completion, detailing challenges encountered, areas that need improvement and proposed solutions
Required Skills / Proven Experience:
  • 8 - 10 years of experience in a High Voltage Substation.
  • Experience designing Substations.
  • Management experience
Education/Certifications:
  • Associates degree from a credible institution
