Job Description:The Hardware Systems Architect position with Client's Informatics and Integrated Solutions Group within R&D organization leverages an understanding of best engineering practices and applies them to hardware product development including design and testing. A solid engineering foundation and systems-level approach to product concept definition, design, and testing is essential. The ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists is critical. This role will steward the transition of engineering concepts and requirements into functional prototypes, and advance them to finished products.
- Reporting directly to the Head of Architecture, you will work closely with teams to collect and translate information requirements into data to develop data-centric solutions
- Interfacing with systems and software architects along with client stakeholders, provide insight into cross-functional teams developing system requirements & architecture definitions, system-level and reliability test plans, and traceability of testing to requirements
- Provide technical knowledge of system engineering principles and their applications to developing cost-effective, reliable and high-quality systems that satisfy customer needs and business requirements
- Ensure a robust systems hardware architecture is developed
- Assist in product risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
- Generate the highest level of system hardware requirements, based on the users needs and other constraints such as cost and schedule
- Generate testing strategy and test execution updates and reports to program stakeholders and senior management
- Perform cost-benefit analysis to determine the best methods or approaches for meeting the systems hardware requirements; making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf or already developed components
- Assist in creating performance metrics to maximize hardware utilization for individual software applications
- Assist in lab performance tests to identify areas of improvement in current or planned hardware architecture
- Develop partitioning algorithms to allocate all present and foreseeable hardware requirements into discrete hardware partitions such that a minimum of communications is needed among partitions, and between the user and the system
- Ensure that industry-accepted system architecture principles and standards are integrated and followed for modeling, procedures, replication, regulations, and security, among other concepts, to meet technical and business goals
- Continuously improve the quality, consistency, accessibility, and security of our data activity across the organization needs
- Develop load-balancing processes to eliminate down time for backup processes
- Identify, evaluate and recommend hardware or software technologies to achieve desired performance
- Monitor and report systems resource consumption trends to assure production systems meet availability requirements and systems hardware enhancements are scheduled appropriately
- Collaborate with system architects, software architects, design analysts, and others to understand business or industry requirements
- Develop hardware architectural strategies at the modeling, design and implementation stages to address business or industry requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering
- 15 years Hardware Devices/ Embedded Systems and System Testing, Test Plans, Test Execution required
- 10 years of Systems Architecture required
- 10 years Partitioning Algorithms, Hardware Engineering, Configuring Applications, etc. and Cost-Benefit Analysis required
- 10 years Generating System Hardware Requirements, Software Integrations, System Design, etc.
- Ability to perform in a lab environment with strong hands-on abilities required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are vital for this role
