We Are Hiring: Ascension St. Agnes Foundation is hiring a Vice President, Foundation Development that is passionate about the needs of the marginalized and a commitment to equity for all persons. Seeks input and insights to self-awareness. What You Will Do:

The Vice President, Foundation Development is the internal job title. Publicly, the title is President, Ascension Saint Agnes Foundation. This person will supervise the direction and execution of the fund development objectives of the Foundation supporting Ascension Saint Agnes and its healthcare mission. The VP will direct the relationship cultivation around all donor engagement and recognition. In addition, the VP will:

  • Oversee the Foundation's operational and fund development strategy,
  • Supervise a professional staff of five persons dedicated to annual, major, and planned gifts, special events, cause marketing, data management, Health System volunteers,
  • Design and execute campaigns targeted at major institutional initiatives and priorities,
  • Foster relationships with corporations and foundations and the ongoing execution of commitments related to a robust grant portfolio,
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department regarding financial accounting of funds and gifts, investments, annual impact report, GAAP audit, and intercompany debt,
  • Regularly review and update guidelines and policies based on IRS regulations, ACGA rates, and Ascension national directives,
  • Ensures current and accurate donor and prospect data management, valuation of gifts, CGA contracts, endowed fund objectives, and gift acceptance records,
  • Sustain the engagement of the Foundation Board of Directors, Emeritus members and committees with transparent information, timely reporting and ongoing development,
  • Ensure the orientation process for prospective Board candidates,
  • Maintains strong relationships with Foundation Board of Directors, Health System leadership including its Board of Directors physicians, clinical and ancillary staff, and professional advisors as appropriate,
  • Ability to help staff understand the "why" of Foundation, Health System and Ascension objectives,
  • Manage publications, communications, website, and advertising of the Foundation in collaboration with the Marketing Department,
  • Serves as a major public expression of the mission and values of Ascension Saint Agnes,
  • Visionary in promoting ways to celebrate the generosity of our associates, clinicians, donors and partners to foster a strong model community,
  • Represent the Maryland Market on the national Ascension Philanthropy Leadership Council (APLC) and other national task forces or initiatives,
  • Align the Foundation with national objectives as these are developed around best practices and shared services, such as socially just investment guidelines.
What You Will Need: Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
Work Experience:
  • 7 years of experience required.
  • 10 years of experience preferred.
  • 5 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
Additional Preferences:
  • Law degree or master's degree with experience in executive foundation leadership and major fund development, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Skilled in business, accounting, communications, investments, and nonprofit management.
  • Ten or more years in nonprofit senior or executive management, grant oversight, business, planned giving, healthcare or non-profit administration.
  • CFRE or CAP designation or desire to continue further professional advancement.
  • Possess a strong desire to help people maximize their investment in the vision of Catholic healthcare. Have ability in working with and engaging business development, client base, prospect or donor relationships
  • Demonstrates and advances the mission and core values of Ascension. Has an understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and practice
  • Willingness to participate in formation experiences to advance leadership in Catholic healthcare
  • Accomplished in staff development and training
  • Versed in IRS regulations on charitable gifts and exempt organization guidelines
  • Commitment in fostering long-term relationships
  • Capable of working with a professional board and supporting its operations and initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing complex grants and project execution
  • Demonstrated experience establishing metrics and measurable performance results for individual staff and the Foundation team.
  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge fundraising software or similar software, planned giving illustration software, wealth screening tools, and other fundraising programs
  • Proficient in both Microsoft and Google software programs
