Apex Systems is seeking a FDA Quality Control Tech in the Baltimore, MD area to work with a local leader in seafood manufacturing.

FUNCTIONS: • To conduct oneself professionally and in accordance with employee handbook. To use work time wisely and strictly for business. Continue to maintain the friendly but productive atmosphere. • To assist and carryout all departmental matters and directions of the Quality Management. Inspection Duties: • Initial duties are plant pre-operational inspection including ATP swab checks of equipment, utensils, etc., to ensure proper sanitation was performed before use. All rooms, surfaces, equipment, and utensils are visually inspected for cleanliness. Swabs are done at random at the discretion of the inspector at pre-op and following product changeovers or as specifically directed. • Start-up inspections of all ingredients to be used in the designated product are inspected. Temperature of crab meat and other temperature critical ingredients are checked and recorded, check dates and lot numbers of ingredients and correct recipe verification and sign-off. • Initial GMP inspection is done for employees to ensure compliance to GMP's, SOP's, and HACCP Procedures. (Proper and clean clothing, plastic aprons, gloves, hairnets, plastic sleeves, no jewelry, etc.) • CCP monitoring • Following inspection of all areas and employees and documenting on QC inspections sheets. • Calibration verification of metal detector devices must be performed and signed off by inspector hourly. • Initial production is checked for proper weight, appearance, conformation to specification and sensory evaluation and recorded hourly thereafter. • Both raw and cooked product is evaluated and recorded for sensory, appearance, weight, and recorded on VA evaluation score sheet. • Finished product package evaluations for proper labeling, conformance to declared net weight, proper code date, package and label integrity, ingredients, allergen and nutritional information if applicable for item being produced. • Evaluation of metal detector rejected product when applicable.

Qualifications: Education and Experience: High school education; or up to six-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small groups. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Computer Skills: Ability to operate a standard computer, including basic use of MS applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
