Then the Open Storage and Large Servers team might be the perfect fit for you! We are looking for a highly motivated individual to work with a team of talented engineers to deliver world-class storage, large server, and cloud services to the business. The team supports a broad range of disciplines, including traditional SAN storage, IBM SVC storage virtualization, IBM storage devices, IBM Spectrum Scale, IBM Cloud Object Storage, AIX, and Linux. As the on-prem storage wanes, the team will assume greater DevOps Infrastructure and Operations responsibilities, including supporting our National Print Mail Facility (NPMC) and cloud storage. The role demands strong project management skills, great interpersonal skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

A successful candidate will be asked to define and implement automated workflows to improve quality and efficiency, ensure effective monitoring of all network infrastructure components, and establish, maintain and report on service level agreements for services. The candidate will be responsible for configuration management and capacity management. In addition, this position requires adherence to the latest software and hardware patches and fixes. The successful candidate will also be responsible for working with the team to use the appropriate tools and processes to enhance efficiencies in the day-to-day storage and server operations and maintain high availability at all times.

Candidate Qualifications
  • Well versed in storage and concepts, with an emphasis on IBM equipment
  • Well versed in Infrastructure and Operations to include operating systems, IT automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), etc.
  • Familiar with the IBM SVC, SAN management, Brocade in particular
  • Familiarity with the Linux, AIX, and Windows operating systems
  • Understanding of cloud technologies, preferably Microsoft Azure and IBM Cloud.
  • Working knowledge of Agile SCRUM and Kanban methodologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Process-oriented approach
  • Good teamwork
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology and priorities
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to stay current with evolving technologies, architectures, and best practices.
  • Provide 7x24 after-hours on-call support and support for off-hour implementations.

Desired Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of servers and virtualization technologies.
  • Scripting skills, especially Linux shell, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Basic understanding of Monitoring Portals: Splunk, Dynatrace, Moogsoft
  • Understanding of IBM Spectrum Scale or the Elastic Storage Server (ESS)
  • Understanding of IBM Cloud Object Storage (ICOS)
  • Proficient knowledge in tools to support storage infrastructure, especially IBM TPC, Brocade BNA or SANnav, and Virtana Virtual Wisdom
  • Enterprise-class storage and data network design, deployment, and testing experience. Ability to perform advanced storage analysis.
  • Must be able to concentrate and demonstrate a capacity to learn new technical concepts and to adapt to new technologies quickly.
