Job Description:

As a member of the Data Ops team at GEICO, you will be responsible for providing and maintaining a robust and scalable machine learning & data platform in Microsoft Azure. This includes configuring and provisioning components based on end users needs, productionizing machine learning resources and routines, training platform users and advising on best practices, and providing continued monitoring solutions for platform stability. You will support our IT and data science stakeholders in their efforts to design, deploy, and maintain machine learning models that provide value to many different areas of GEICO's business - from applications, to marketing and underwriting. You will collaborate with other IT teams, including architecture, network teams, and DevOps Catalog to build solutions that meet the customer's needs within our organizational parameters and processes.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Work with platform users to understand requirements and use cases, and to advise on strategy and best practice for use of the platform.
  • Monitor cloud-based systems and components for availability, performance, reliability, security, efficiency, and ability to meet non-functional requirements and service level agreements.
  • Create and configure appropriate cloud resources to meet the needs of the end users, including Azure Kubernetes Clusters, Machine Learning Workspaces and compute instances.
  • Create and maintain pipelines in Azure DevOps to automate deployment of code and resources (CICD).
  • Strong, proven problem-solving skills and a proven ability to apply critical/analytical thinking to deliver sustainable and creative solutions to complex requirements.
  • As needed, document topology, processes, and solution architecture.
  • Assist with the training and enablement of end users, including data scientists, program managers, and data consumers.

Required Qualifications:
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts and challenges, and understanding of Machine Learning Life Cycle
  • 3+ years of experience with the Microsoft Azure cloud environments & associated components and resources, to create enterprise-grade applications environments
  • Experience with cloud data storage and compute components including Kubernetes, data lakes, compute clusters, and data warehouses
  • Knowledge of DevOps principles and comfortable working in Agile environment
  • Strong working knowledge of networking concepts (DNS/DHCP/Firewalls/Sub-netting, etc.)
  • Experience using Azure DevOps (ADO) platform to create and maintain CICD pipelines
  • Willing and able to excellent provide support 24x7 for the platform on an on-call rotation basis
  • Ability to work independently, and deliver results and drive projects with minimal supervision
  • Strong ability to communicate blockers and issues to management for escalation and timely resolution
  • Strong team player, with desire to learn new skills and broaden experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure machine learning components
  • Experience with Python for data manipulation and data science, and notebook-based data analysis solutions like Jupyter or Azure Databricks
  • Experience performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for application and infrastructure related issues

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
