The Underwriting Systems Policy Analyst Team (PAT) has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced analyst to support critical core systems for Rating and Underwriting. The Applications we support are the nervous system of the organization and require high-quality implementations to ensure our front-end systems deliver first-class experiences. Our team is responsible for a wide variety of projects and is at the forefront of what is happening at GEICO!

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Working closely with analysts and developers as part of a dynamic Agile Project Team to deliver first-class software with Agile Project Management practices
  • Working effectively with Business and IT Partners to define project Requirements
  • Translating Business Requirements into System Requirements
  • Creating system documentation, such as Use Cases or Business Detail Design Documents
  • Creating an effective Testing Strategy which includes writing & reviewing test plans and supporting the Automated Testing Team
  • Triaging application defects
  • Coordinating projects across multiple teams

Required Qualifications:
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills including the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Experience documenting business and system processes/rules, and their relationships to current/future-state solutions
  • Experience with GEICO IT processes and practices
  • Self-motivation and a strong sense of ownership
  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Outstanding time management and prioritization skills
  • Passionate about being part of a Software Development Team
  • Comfortable working with associates and management located in multiple Regional offices
  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and work in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of agile system development life cycle methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with agent and customer facing Sales, Service, Underwriting, and/or Billing/Financial systems
  • Demonstrated understanding of CORE, Ratabase, and Telematics
  • Working knowledge of SQL with abilities to construct queries and analyze results

Candidates who are selected for this position will be trained remotely and must be able to work from home in a designated work area. Once GEICO determines it is safe for associates to return to the office, candidates may be required to work in our Chevy Chase, MD office or the office closest to the candidate.
