We are looking for a results driven professional to work with the IT team as a Senior Scrum Master. The team's responsibilities are wide-ranging and change frequently from supporting individual agile teams using various methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, and Scrumban) to developing and maintaining reporting on agile metrics across a large program. The position will support project planning and estimation and requires helping more than 2 Scrum teams to mature in these methodologies by coaching and mentoring. The following characteristics are required: excellent communication, coordination skills, and analysis skills, as well as presentation and strong organizational skills. Experience working and communicating with all levels of the company is necessary. Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited direction. A working knowledge of an agile project management tool (i.e. VSTS/Azure DevOps) is desired.

Senior Scrum Master - Big Data

Do you love leading projects using processes and cutting-edge technology to make use of all the data within GEICO? Do you have a strong background working on highly technical projects and passionate about continuous improvement through Agile methodologies? As a Scrum Master and Project Manager on the GEICO IT Squad, you will serve a scrum team working on our Data Consumption initiatives in the Data Security & Infrastructure (DSI) department.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience working as a Scrum Master, project manager, or product owner on technical projects (Software Development, DevOps, or Big Data)
  • 5+ years' experience managing work and dependencies across multiple departments
  • 3+ years' experience of SQL and data analysis
  • Ability to manage work in a highly technical, changing environment
  • Provides visibility into delivery targets, commitments, and progress
  • Understands domain architecture and targets to identify upstream and downstream dependencies and to support the team in risk management
  • Proactively identifies impediments and appropriately resolves using network of peers and formal channels (including escalation if required)
  • Excellent communication skills, facilitation skills, able to collaborate, plan, execute and follow-up on meetings at the team level
  • Facilitate story / epic level backlog refinement and prioritization and provide monitoring and status tracking support for cross-team initiatives
  • Ensure impediments are visible and tracked through to resolution, escalating when necessary.
  • Supports team's automation (testing, pipelines, deployments)/DevOps journey
  • Integrates Agile and Lean principles into team practices and work products
  • Utilizes team feedback and metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc.) to identify areas of opportunity and works with team to continuously improve
  • Innovates with practices and frameworks through experimentation to improve the team and their delivery
  • Coaches the team to improve collaboration and self-organization
  • Scrum Alliance CSM, CSP certification or PMI's Agile Certified Professional (ACP)
  • 3+ years of Agile Delivery experience utilizing Scrum, Kanban or SAFe methodologies
  • 3+ years of Technology Project Delivery experience
  • 3+ years' working knowledge of Big Data and Azure/Snowflake Ecosystem
  • 3+ year' experience with Azure DevOps or JIRA and Confluence
  • Working knowledge of data mapping and data profiling
  • Must be able to, with or without accommodation, perform the essential functions which include, but are not limited to seeing, hearing, typing and speaking
  • Must be able to use a PC
  • Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting skills
  • Must be able to multi-task

  • Must be knowledgeable of software coding and following standards and processes that have been published and the guidelines for the design
  • Must be able to provide system training to team members as needed
  • Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise, professional oral or written manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers and other employees of the organization
  • Must be able to perform under pressure and stressful situations
  • May be required to be on call for production support 24x7
  • Must be able to concentrate and demonstrate a capacity for learning technical concepts and adapting to new technologies quickly
