GEICO IT is seeking a Portfolio Project Manager (PPM) to assist in the managing and delivery of a portfolio of product innovation projects. You will be joining a growing team on the ground level of an initiative with company-wide impact and visibility. You will provide thought leadership in developing strategy and plans for rollout across the entire portfolio. In this role, you will collaborate across all IT and Business functions as part of the portfolio management responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establishes, maintains, and provides management reporting using appropriate metrics.
  • Engages key stakeholders to evaluate proposed and ongoing projects based on value, risk, effort, cost and strategic alignment.
  • Ensures effective communication with project sponsors, project managers, functional and resource managers, and other stakeholders within both business and IT.
  • Works with key stakeholders and budget managers to assess and track financial impact of portfolio project work.
  • Aligns the portfolio process with the IT and corporate planning process.
  • Coordinates project intake, prioritization, and evaluation framework for managing and reporting on GEICO's project portfolio.
  • Develops relationships with stakeholders and executives in order to gain buy-in and adoption.
  • Creates internal and external communication of portfolio management for all levels of IT and corporate leadership.
  • Performs analysis and delivers recommendations for governance tools, templates, guidelines, procedures and processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience with large scale enterprise IT project portfolio management.
  • 5+ years of experience with introducing new processes (with and without related supporting technology assessment and recommendation).
  • 3+ years of experience defining and managing product or value streams.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communications skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholder groups as well as leadership of all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing a large portfolio.
  • Experience with Scaled Agile, Scrum, Kanban techniques
  • Experience facilitating workshops.
  • Experience with Portfolio Management Software (i.e. Planview, VersionOne, Clarizen, Primavera, etc.), including visualization of work, metrics, and reporting across portfolio.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an effective agent of change
  • Relies on strong critical thinking, technical skill, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrates the keen ability to recognize and apply an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and priorities
  • Ability to manage complex projects and tasks with attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in Organizational Change Management
  • PMP certification, certification in Agile Methodologies (PMI-ACP or other industry standard certification) are preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft's Azure DevOps (ADO)
  • Experience with introducing new technology and technology assessment and recommendations
