Our Client is a global company serving the defense, federal, and commercial markets with innovative solutions for the ground tactical, airborne and avionics, naval/maritime, and public safety and security domains. In addition to mission-critical communication systems, the company provides helmet-mounted displays and motion tracking technologies; SATCOM terminals; advanced sonar systems; and data protection solutions. Furthermore, the company serves as a gateway for technology, leveraging Thales-wide solutions-such as combat management systems; naval, airborne, and ground ISR; and electronic warfare-to address U.S. requirements.

We currently have an opening in our Clarksburg office for a Systems Engineer. The candidate will have responsibility for systems engineering activities associated with wireless communications systems, including handheld, shipborne, and fixed site systems. The candidate should be familiar with wireless communications systems operating in the HF, VHF, UHF and L-Band spectrum. This position reports directly to the Director of Systems and Software Engineering.

  • Support Business Development with customer meetings, requirements elicitation, architecture development, and systems implementation.
  • Provide subject matter expertise as a project design authority of HF, UHF, VHF, and L-Band systems.
  • Support product development teams with use case analysis, requirements capture and allocation, architectural analysis and design, unit level testing, integration, verification and validation efforts, and transition to manufacturing
  • Collaborate with our European divisions in the development of new products and product roadmaps capturing unique requirements for the U.S. market.
  • Develop technical proposals and support cost estimations.
  • Evaluate competing product and solution offerings.
  • Represent us at relevant industry forums.
  • Serve as a customer liaison, supporting design reviews and other technical interchanges.
  • Support field installation, testing, evaluation, and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Support government certification testing of equipment.
  • Support spectrum certification.

  • U.S. Citizenship required. - Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • BSEE, BSCS, or equivalent
  • 8+ years as a Design Engineer
  • Must have strong presentation and writing skills. Fluent in English
  • Experience with system level design, development, and testing of tactical, secure, state-of-the-art military communications systems.
  • Experience with requirements elicitation, decomposition, traceability and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with portable, battery operated embedded systems design.
  • Knowledge of RF design, Digital design, Software design, and Information Security.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment with RF and Digital test equipment.
  • Experience working with Software Defined Radios (SDRs).
  • Experience with mobile ad-hoc networking waveforms.
