Job Description

Job Summary:

The Machine Operator is responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform mechanical adjustments on assigned machines. This position will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and making adjustments as necessary.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Understand all Operator functions to better understand challenges
  • Be responsible for multiple work centers running simultaneously
  • Complete work center setup independently
  • Maintain machines on a regular basis
  • Be able to identify and replace broken and/or damaged parts
  • Forklift and Pallet Jack operation
  • Perform and record all preventative maintenance without assistance
  • Assist Mechanic, as needed, on machine repairs while learning to perform repairs independently in the future.
  • Perform facility maintenance as necessary
  • Work a 40 hour scheduled work week

Note: Must be able to work any shift or overtime to maintain work schedules as required.

Qualifications

Core Skills / Experience Requirements: Preference will be given to high school graduates with some vocational mechanical training. However, actual operator/mechanic experience is required.

  • Have the ability to analyze and solve mechanical problems.
  • Skilled in utilizing and understanding the following:
  1. inventory control
  2. multi meter
  3. artwork & drawings
  4. chain breaker
  5. measuring equipment
  6. hand tools
  7. basic computer programs (MRP, Word)
  • Skilled in reading, writing, and counting
  • Possess general working knowledge of electrical controls
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and material safety data sheets.
  • Skilled in utilizing and understanding the following:
  • measuring equipment
  • pumps – hand, gear, etc.
  • Intermediate to advanced mechanical knowledge to perform maintenance tasks
  • Above average technical expertise
  • Ability to train other employees to improve job performance
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • General working knowledge of electrical controls
  • Minimum supervision required
  • Ability to read and understand Sales Order requirements
  • Knowledgeable in inventory control practices and MRP programs

Physical Requirements:

  • Receive instructions through oral communications accurately and quickly.
  • Convey answers or instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, and quickly.
  • Must be able to lift and move materials up to a maximum of 80 pounds and carry 8 feet frequently.
  • The machine operator will be subject to dust, noise, fumes, and odors.
  • The machine operator will be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • The physical activity of this position includes, but is not limited to:
  • climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting, sitting, and feeling.
  • Must be able to stack 40-pound boxes up to 6 feet high.
  • Safety equipment will be provided where needed and required to be worn.
