DLH is seeking a Cloud Architect to support our Department of Defense client within the US Army’s Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) located in Ft. Detrick, MD. The Cloud Architect will help the client understand their operational landscape. Using their understanding of various server platforms, they will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing virtualization environments. As the authority on server architecture and interoperability, your client will look to you for time critical recommendations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain all computer systems running Windows, UNIX, and Red Hat: LINUX operating systems, blade servers, and standalone services which include physical and virtual machines
  • Maintain an understanding of client R&D Data Commons/Artificial Intelligence system architecture (s) to include, but not limited to, network configuration and management, systems and peripheral device hardware, operating systems, hardware and software system security, systems configuration and management, code management, database development and management, and software architecture and development
  • Assist in recommending and evaluating hardware, software and system tools that improve the software development environment, operational platforms, hardware redundancy, fail-over support, and performance improvement
  • Provide operational maintenance and management of R&D infrastructure
  • Install and configure operating systems; perform systems integration, management and security; and maintain, monitor, troubleshoot, apply patches and upgrades, and backup data and servers
  • Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems
  • Plan and implement system security policies to include firewalls, host and client access, file permissions, and user accounts
  • Document the design of the operating environment IAW government Information Assurance documentation (Risk Management Framework (RMF) certification) procedures/formats and assist in other IA documentation as requested
  • Install and debug new and upgraded software on server and client platforms, ensuring compliance with current site licenses

Minimum Requirements:
  • Keep current on emerging technologies, make recommendations to incorporate them as appropriate and integrate them into R&D as requested
  • Assist with maintaining performance tuning and resource monitoring of systems
  • Provide planning and technical support to SAN, NAS and other storage devices
  • Provide planning and technical support to virtual machine (VM) servers and user accounts; establish VM templates for commonly associated virtual machines; support user configuration, VM software loads and help with performance issues
  • Assist the Information Assurance Manager (IAM) in the coordination and completion of Certification and Accreditation (C&A) efforts for the information systems within the directorate scope of responsibility
  • Provide IM/IT architecture design guidance for product needs and products under development by client database and software engineering resources
  • Responsible for designing, implementing, and managing virtualization environments that run the VMware Platform

Education, Certifications and Work Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Eight years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Understanding of networking, network/cloud security, TCP/IP, IP Addressing, HTTPS, DNS, VMware
  • Existing CompTIA Security+ certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • VM Ware VCP and NV Certification
  • Cloud Computing Certification
  • Knowledge of Database management
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting/and or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Security Clearance:Existing Secret clearance or ability to obtain a Tier 3 Secret clearance.Pursuant to a government contract this position requires U.S. citizenship status.
