LOCAL EDITORIAL COORDINATOR
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Oversees the development of monthly editorial content for magazine
Attends monthly webinar hosted by magazines Project Manager to review recipes for each issues editorial theme in accordance with the planning schedule
Works closely with Publishers to localize content recipes supplied by the home office and to ensure that editorial can be used as a strategic sales tool
Incorporates local contacts in the Lifestyle recipes as specified by the Publisher
Work with the Publisher to ensure all client-promised content entered during the Publishers planning period has been assigned within the corresponding three-month view
Stays abreast of local happenings in the area so as to provide current and relevant contacts for Lifestyle recipes that the publisher has no direction for
Sees to the completion of all stories by notating all editorial planning in ARC and by assigning and executing them singularly or by assigning them to additional local contributors
This includes completing or assigning static content such as the Lifestyle Letter, Good Times, Around Town and Calendar
Lifestyle Publications will advertise for and review the portfolios to find the initial photographer prior to a publications launch
After launch, it is the Local Editorial Coordinators responsibility to select and work with local contributors. The home office is happy to lend support in this area if needed.
Ensures that all content is submitted to ARC by the content deadline including:
Selecting a cover
Selecting and cropping the main web image for each story, static content included
Makes revisions to stories or photography if requested to do so by the home office
During the initial proofing round and final proofing round, the Local Editorial Coordinator is responsible for effectively communicating the Publishers edits to the Project Manager and works as an advocate on behalf of the Publisher within the deadlines established by the home office
Communicates on a monthly basis with publication team including, but not limited to, the local Publisher, local Staff Photographer and corporate Project Manager
Attends a monthly webinar on the first Wednesday of every month at 10am CT hosted by Lifestyle Editorial Manager where all Lifestyle recipes for the upcoming issue will be reviewed and discussed
Attends a monthly call with local publication team hosted by the magazines Project Manager to review the editorial plan and make any changes as deemed necessary
May require on-site work with Staff Photographer to organize or stylize a photo shoot and/or interview a subject in person
Determines whether custom photography is needed by being the initial contact with the article subject and if relevant imagery can be provided
Communicates regularly with the magazines Project Manager and Publisher regarding any obstacles preventing the completion of assignments
Alerts the magazines Project Manager and Publisher of any major events, trends or developments in the local area that should be included in the publication and how they can work within the bound of the pre-designed Lifestyle recipes
May be requested to create web-only content in tandem with an article for use on social media or the local website per the Publisher's request
Keep track of freelance payment invoices after print
Compile an invoice listing all articles that ran in the associated months, corresponding amounts to be paid to contributors and the contact information/address for all listed contributors.
Invoice is to be sent to the Publisher in a timely manner for payment.
