This position is located at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD. OSAM-1 is a robotic servicing mission designed to refuel a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite. It contains 3 elements: the Flight Element comprised of the OSAM-1 Servicing Vehicle (RSV) and development testbeds, the Ground Element comprised of the systems required to conduct RSV operations and the supporting networks and facilities, and the Launch Element comprised of the Launch Vehicle and supporting facilities and services. NExIS is responsible for the design, engineering, development, test, and operations of the OSAM-1 Mission through an integrated team at GSFC. The Servicing Payload design, development and RSV integration will be conducted at GSFC. JOB DESCRIPTION: The engineer will support the OSAM-1 Servicing Payload Verification & Validation (V&V) Program. JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:- Acts as the deputy to the Servicing Payload (SP) Lead Systems Engineer (SE).
- Manages the Servicing Payload V&V Program, including inputs to the mission Environmental Test Matrix.
- Leads development of SP Comprehensive Performance Test (CPT).
- Facilitates development of requisite test procedures and scripts, system performance t rending, and final test report(s).
- Reviews and approves SP and subsystem level artifacts, including but not limited to: WOAs plans/procedures, analysis reports, verification artifacts.
- Monitors technical development across subsystems and components and participates in subsystem Failure Review Boards (FRBs) when delegated by SP lead SE.
- Participates in payload subsystem flight hardware acceptance reviews.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Servicing Payload inputs to the mission level Environmental Test Matrix.
- Servicing Payload V&V plan + process, including monthly reporting of verification progress/metrics.
- Comprehensive Performance Test plan, including trend parameters and plan for monitoring.
- Weekly status reporting to SP lead SE.
- BS in Engineering; preferably Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace + 9yrs experience, or degree plus experience equivalent.
- Experience with space flight hardware, integration and test, and operations.
- Experience with NASA and GSFC systems engineering standards and processes.
- Experience with MS Office, DOORS; both used for requirements management.
- Ability to obtain/maintain NASA Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) certification (GSFC-SH-ESDCO300 300-PG-8730.6.1A). English proficiency is required to successfully complete the required training and pass testing (written and/or hands-on) to obtain NASA ESD certification .
- Familiarity with NASA standards for Class C and experience working with GSFC in-house development.
- Familiarity with ASIST or ITOS.
