We have an exciting opportunity for a

Systems Security Engineer to support our unique customer in

Greenbelt, MD. This position requires an active Secret security clearance.

The purpose of this contract is to acquire engineering services for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for ground systems and mission operations support (GSMO-3) in all phases of a mission life cycle. The scope encompasses concept studies, design, development, integration, test, verification, operations, and sustainment of mission operations systems and subsystems, and operations processes and procedures.

  • Applies specialized knowledge of primary technical discipline, e.g., aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer science to support research, planning, development, design, analysis, production, maintenance, and operation of devices, equipment, complex systems, or processes;
  • Design activities generally involve customer specifications, constraints, operating environments, and autonomous, unattended operation;
  • State-of-the-art product development activities may require modification and extension of existing methods and may require advanced techniques and/or tools.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (e.g. Aerospace, Electrical, Electronic, Optics, Mechanical);
  • At least 8 years of related experience;
  • Requires broad knowledge of several fields and extensive knowledge of own specialty - Under minimal supervision, performs work that is complex and conferring with superior on unusual matters. Performs a variety of engineering analyses of mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems during all project life cycle phases to include the system safety commonly used in the aerospace industry. Recommends appropriate action to assure conformance with requirements of MIL-STD-882D and 1472F. Assists in the overall planning installation, and testing of equipment revisions relating to the operational and maintenance safety. Performs special studies to determine and recommend the best options for eliminating, reducing level of risk severity, controlling or acceptance of system risk, which may require the use of nonstandard procedures and complex instrumentation. May lead or direct projects. May act in a liaison capacity with other departments, division, and organizations. Evaluates engineering progress, developments, and findings, to assure technical adequacy to meet operational demands and conformance with established standards and practices. Recommends changes in procedures. Interacts with senior management and senior customer representatives; may lead a cross-functional team
  • Key Skills and Abilities Expert knowledge of IT Security principles, practices, concepts, and security regulations. Experienced with technical security assessment techniques, tools, and practices. Ability to manage IT Security efforts utilizing project management skills. Strong organizational skills. Strong communication (both verbal and written) and customer service skills (Ability to exchange information with others clearly and concisely).
  • Eligible for Secret Clearance

  • Education: A Master's degree may substitute for 3 years of experience.
