Transdev Services, Inc. is seeking a Utility Supervisor at its Hyattsville, MD facility. The ideal candidate will perform daily walk-around inspections, coach employees for optimal performance, supervise the utility staff to ensure that vehicles are properly cleaned and maintained, check parking conditions and position/stage vehicles, perform random inspection of buses, document safety violations, and ensure office and shop conditions are maintained within standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly oversees all daily activities of the Utility Department including supervision of all Utility Workers.
  • Accounts for subordinate and personnel compliance with all Transdev's safety rules, policies and procedures.
  • Monitor employee's performance of established procedures.
  • Plans, organizes, and assigns daily work in Utility Department.
  • Monitors performance of and efficiencies of the Utility Department.
  • Hold daily tailgate meetings with Utility Workers.
  • Perform Post Inspections on vehicles that have been detailed.
  • Provide daily updates to Maintenance Manager and Client.
  • Administer daily reports for the Utility Department.
  • Responsible for maintaining the bus wash area and bus yard clean.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. 2-3 year's previous supervisory experience.
  3. 2-3 year's related work experience.
  4. Experience dealing with the Union and working in the transportation industry a must.
  5. Valid drivers' license.
  6. Must be able to demonstrate tact, diplomacy and possesses good judgment and discretion.
  7. Must possess ability to lead and motivate employees.
  8. Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
  9. General knowledge of Windows-based computer operating system and Microsoft office package.
  10. Must be able to work as a member of the team.
  11. Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customer on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.
  12. Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.

  • 10% of work is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.

  • Frequently stands and walks; ability to sit for up to three hours; walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability to lift or handle material weighing up to 50 to 75 lbs. without assistance; ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch; and corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication.
  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
  • Exposure to cleaning solutions, oils, and other liquids.
  • Must be able to travel for company training, meeting or support missions.
