ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY SPECIALISTS (SME) - (IRS508-21-0892-F): Bowhead seeks an Assistive Technology Specialist to join our team of IRS professionals in Lanham, MD dedicated to maintaining 508 Compliance for our customers. Section 508 Program Office is an organization within the US Department of the Treasury's, Office of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that provides agency wide support Assistive Technology (AT) as a reasonable accommodations and technical Section 508 guidance for IRS projects and Agency initiatives. Experience requirements: • Working Knowledge of Inspection/Testing tools. Able to independently demonstrate testing acumen. Does not require assistance or support with testing. • Working Knowledge of the appropriate way to use AT for testing. Able to recommend and defend the proper specification and configuration for each of the IRS Standard AT, when using the AT as a test tool. • Ability to translate non-conformance to Test Standards into a Risk statement based on the impacted user population • Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Principles, Guidelines, Success Criteria, and Sufficient Techniques • 508 Testing Ability. • Report Writing. • Knowledge of 508 law including provisions. • Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Principles, Guidelines, and Success Criteria. • Experience with 508 Compliance test scripts and reporting of test results • Experience with 508 Compliance testing of web software applications • Must have the ability to independently troubleshoot software 508 Compliance issues • Knowledge of the technical, policy and contracting implications of Section 508 • Expert knowledge of Assistive Technology (AT), its performance, capability, baseline interoperability. What is best in class in the marketplace. • Experience in configuring and teaching others how to use Dragon, ZoomText, and JAWS as well as other AT • computer experience with mainstream applications such as MS Office • Demonstrated ability to install hardware and software • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot interoperability issues between mainstream hardware, software and assistive technology • Participate, as needed, as a member of a cross-functional team of IT experts to identify and craft solutions for newly introduced software/solutions • Expert Knowledge of the purpose for 508 testing • Expert Knowledge of features which enhance the accessibility and usability of a web sites and applications • Working Knowledge of the appropriate way to use AT for testing. Able to recommend and defend the proper specification and configuration for each of the IRS Standard AT, when using the AT as a test tool • Working Knowledge of Inspection/Testing tools. Able to independently demonstrate testing acumen. Does not require assistance or support with testing. • Experience with Microsoft Outlook including Tasks. Reading ability. Communication and analytical skills. Requirements o A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in relevant area is desired. Relevant certification preferred. o Not less than three years of substantive and relevant experience
