Overview

VariQ is seeking a

Backend Developer for our client, the

Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Additional Information:
  • Location: Lanham, MD/Remote
  • Security

    Clearance: IRS MBI clearance is highly preferred
  • Available: upon the award, currently in the proposal stage

Responsibilities

Primarily responsible for:
  • Developing and consuming web-based, RESTful APIs
  • Using and working in team environments that use agile methodologies
  • Authoring developer-friendly documentation (e.g., API documentation, deployment operations)
  • Test-driven development
  • Use of version control systems, specifically RTC, Git and GitHub
  • Quickly researching and learning new programming tools and techniques
  • Relational and non-relational database systems
  • Handling large data sets and scaling their handling and storage
  • Using and working with open source solutions
  • Communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Design, build, and implement software applications, remediate defects, support activities to setup / validate infrastructure environments in support of Application team
  • Participate in daily stand-up meetings and team planning activities, helping estimate hours/size/complexity of work items in the backlog as needed
  • Communicate with Scrum Master for any issues, impediments or roadblocks
  • Create and maintain code comments, Wikis, and other development artifacts in support of the application team

Qualifications

Experience using modern, open source software to prototype and deploy back end web applications, including all aspects of server-side processing, data storage, and integration with front end development.
