CGI Federal is looking to add to a very diverse team of ERP system analysts, reports analysts, and accountants that work in a positive working environment to meet our client’s accounting and reconciliation needs. The ideal candidate for this position is an accounting expert who is familiar with U.S. Standard General Leger, Government Accounting Standards and Practices, Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as other Office of Management and Budget (OMB) guidelines and requirements. As a Sr. ERP Accountant, you will use your knowledge, skills, and abilities to review various financial data (e.g., obligations, payments, salaries, and taxes) and perform reconciliations across various ERP and reporting systems on a weekly and monthly basis. That accountant will work with a reports analyst to identify data discrepancies and translate those into accounting entries necessary to resolve discrepancies between multiple ERP systems. The ideal accountant also has strong writing and communication skills, and is able to build relationships with both their team members and clients.Your future duties and responsibilities:The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for performing reviews and reconciliations of federal financial data using various reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, MS Access, MS Excel, etc. as well as analyzing complex financial records and reports. The Sr. Accountant will review the financial data originating from various applications and integrations/interfaces and validate the accounting information is valid and proper, review of GL postings and amounts to ensure they accurately reflect actual transactions, transactions are sufficiently supported to ensure proper accounting, reconcile GL summary or detailed entries against source documents, perform complete reconciliation of all outstanding transactions, and any discrepancies identified are promptly researched and resolutions are proposed.The Sr. Accountant will also be responsible for developing documentations and presentation slides to describe and explain causes of any accounting issues or data discrepancies identified during the reconciliations. The Sr. Account will need to be able to identify erroneous GL entries within financial data and elaborate on accounting entries necessary to resolve data or accounting discrepancies.Required qualifications to be successful in this role:12+ years of accounting background and analyzing/reconciling government financial data
CPA certification is a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
Must be proficient in MS Excel, MS Access
Ability to analyze metrics and reports using reporting tools such as Business Objects, Crystal Reports, and/or Pentaho.
Ability to review validity of GL postings based on type of transactions processed in the system
Ability to review summarized General Ledger driven reports and reconciling against detailed GL postings
Employs mastery of financial data and reporting concepts and practices
Ability to resolve accounting and financial data discrepancies by utilizing problem solving and analytical skills and documenting the “cause” and "resolution" of the discrepancies
Ability to reconcile open balances on obligations and budgets based on GL postings
Excellent analysis and logic skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
