Overview
We are looking for a software engineering manager with strong technical skills. You will provide technical guidance and evaluate technical solutions as well as manage and support your team. You will work with the product design team to refine and clarify requirements during the design phase. As part of the engineering leadership team, you will help establish technical strategy and identify opportunities for improvement across the organization. You will need experience with cloud hosted solutions, and systems that operate at scale 24/7. Bethesda.net is the online digital publishing platform for Bethesda Softworks and its associated game studios. We provide a wide variety of features that support our game studios, publishing teams, and players. Our websites and developer tools are based on React with a strong focus on responsive design. The platform services are built using a variety of languages, and we are currently pursuing a strong interest in Golang. It operates in the AWS cloud and leverages many of their managed services. Responsibilities- Manage and provide technical leadership to a development team
- Work with product owners to refine product feature sets and requirements
- Ensure technical solutions align with the overall engineering direction and strategy
- Provide professional growth opportunities and guidance to engineers on the team
- Participate in strategic planning to establish a long-term technical roadmap
- Help establish a culture of ownership, craftsmanship, customer empathy, and continuous improvement
- Experience leading and growing an engineering team
- Knowledge of a modern web development (i.e., React, Vue, or Angular)
- Knowledge of a modern webservice development (i.e., Node.js, Python, or Go)
- Possess a strong technical background and deep knowledge of software engineering principles, exceptional problem solving, design, programming, and testing skills
- Experience with multiple programming languages and technologies
- Experience with cloud hosted solutions and CDNs
- Pragmatic approach to providing technical solutions that solve business needs
- Experience working with teams that blend in-house and contracted engineers
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Experience with microservice or service mesh architectures
- Experience with Server Side Rendering (SSR)
