What You'll DoAs a Lead Project Engineer, Battery Packs, you'll be part of our GTS team located in Towson, MD. You'll get to:
  • Apply engineering concepts and creativity to develop a safe, innovative, reliable, and high performance battery pack.
  • Be able to lead engineers and designers to deliver the product designs meeting specifications within the cost and timeline constraints of the product.
  • Coach, mentor and motivate team, developing overall capabilities including technical aptitude, problem-solving, project management, and influence.
  • Lead design of multiple complex subsystems concurrently. Able to lead others and utilize 3D modeling software to contribute directly to new designs.
  • Making sure all the documentation for the product is accurate and is properly maintained.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams including marketing, Industrial design, manufacturing, product, and reliability teams to understand user needs, product design constraints and testing needs.
  • Effectively drive advanced root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Design test plans, analyze results from advance testing.
  • Apply your engineering knowledge and collaborate with our compliance department to meet regulatory compliance, safety and reliability requirements.
  • Utilize SBD's Milestone process to develop and deliver technical design in support of new products.
  • Lead design reviews and report progress to managers.

  • B.S. or equivalent in Mechanical engineering discipline, MSME preferred.
  • 12-15 years of experience in product development experience, preferably in lithium ion battery pack design. Experience designing battery packs of greater than 48V and greater than 1 kWh is a desired.
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling software, a must, CATIA V5 is a desired.
  • Familiarity with Printed Circuit Board design and manufacturing is desired.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes for various electronic and other products
  • Demonstrated ability to design plastic components, metallic components, working with various materials
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet schedule and cost commitments
  • Have excellent communication skills to deal with customers and suppliers to meet the targets of scheduled events
  • Supplier development for key components and working with contract manufacturers
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stacks ups, Failure analysis etc
  • Strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement
  • Strong team player capable to manage a small team of direct or matrixed engineering associates.
  • Demonstrated understanding of quality, performance, schedule and cost objectives in a cross functional and / or technical environment.
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally.
