You have run DOE's and done the statistics to make well informed decisions.   • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years of experience in New Product Development and Electric Motor Development. BLDC experience preferred.
  • Experience supervising engineers, and you enjoy coaching, mentoring, and developing talent.
  • A proven track record in Project Management; You are familiar managing New Product Development projects within a Stage Gate Process, are highly organized, and comfortable reporting out to management.
  • A strong background in mechanical design; you have knowledge in material selection and related manufacturing processes for components, are familiar with motor manufacturing processes, and can demonstrate your ability applying DFM / DFA design principles.
  • Computer Literacy; proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, 2D/3D CAD (Catia preferred), PLM software (Windchill preferred). Familiarity with FEA software is a plus.
What You'll Do As a Senior Project Engineer, you'll be part of our Global Tools & Storage team located in Towson, MD. Specifically, you'll:
  • Lead a team of 24 engineers & designers, developing configurations of an existing motor platform to integrate into new products and developing next generation motor platforms for the future products.
  • Provide leadership, advice, and engineering expertise to colleagues, and you'll mentor, train, and develop junior engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources and will develop and maintain key supplier relationships.
  • Successfully carry out the design process to achieve quality, performance, schedule, and cost objectives in a cross-functional environment. You'll be accountable and will own the results.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with non-engineering disciplines including operations, marketing, and sourcing on strategic initiatives including complexity reduction, cost reduction, warranty reduction, mfg. plant transfers, and others.
  • Lead team members through advanced tolerance stack-ups and system analysis to ensure product assembly and functionality remain consistent throughout its lifetime.
  • Perform hands-on concept development, prototyping, product testing, data collection and definition of product specifications.
  • Investigate design issues & test failures, and effectively identify, recommend, and implement corrective actions to components and/or mfg. process
