Qualifications Requires 5 to 8 years with BS/BA or 3 to 5 years with MS/MA. Experience may substitue for education. successful candidate must be expert with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe PDF editor. Must have demonstrable knowledge of MS Word Field Codes. Knowledge of other MS Word automation features a plus.

Responsibilities Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical data reports, user manuals, technical manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to engineers, analysts and technical experts. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers subject matter experts and future users, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, and engineering illustrations. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials. Translates data into user-friendly text for print and electronic publications, such as technical journals, user and training manuals, and government proposals. Gathers information through research, statistical reports and interviews with technical staff. Develops cataloging systems, and maintains records, files, electronic media and archiving of information for publications. Selects or recommends use of layouts, graphics, drawings, tables, exhibits, illustrations, charts, or storyboards to amplify or clarify publications objectives.
