Responsibilities

Full time position on site at NSWCCD in West Bethesda, MD working within a government-contractor team. Supports loading, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and removal of electronic and electromechanical equipment used for noise measurement trials aboard US Navy ships.Duties include: - Packing and loading of electronic and electromechanical equipment- Building and testing of cables- Equipment installation and cable routing aboard submarines and (rarely) surface ships- Testing and troubleshooting of installed equipment- Equipment removal- Maintenance and grooming of equipment

Qualifications

Requires a High School diploma plus advanced training and a minimum of two to three years' relevant experience. Active Secret clearance required. Position requires 25 - 50% travel with trips up to two weeks in duration. Candidate must be able to support shipboard (submarine and surface ship) installations (able to climb vertical ladders, walk on uneven surfaces, crouch in small spaces, and carry 50 pounds for short distances). Candidates must have basic electronics skills (soldering, cable-making, use of fasteners) and good troubleshooting skills. Willingness to work aboard an underway submarine for about a week at a time is highly desirable. Prior submarine experience (Virginia and Los Angeles Classes) is strongly preferred.
