Job Description

The SAP ERP Solution Architect FI/CO provides technical support and leadership on finance related business processes relying on SAP FI/CO business applications. The role engages in the analysis, design, implementation, support, improvement and control of finance processes. This includes the areas of external Accounting (General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Closing Procedures and Budgeting, as well as Cost Accounting and Controlling (Cost Center/Internal Order Accounting, OPEX related Reporting) and covers all users and physical locations related to the NAM Region.

Job Responsibilities

Analyze business needs, documents requirements and translates the needs into functional, non-functional and/or technical specifications. Performs analysis and evaluates systems, processes and organizational impacts. Collaborates with external and internal module experts, developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyzes gaps and tradeoffs between business requirements and systems capabilities. Performs the role of project lead for small to mid-sized FI/CO projects. Prepares or supports work packages, timelines, project tasks and estimates resource needs. Takes ownership for Finance related interfaces to third parties and applications, such as Delego credit card payment processing, Vertex for sales tax application and reporting. Ownership includes support of daily operations, as well as ongoing maintenance, upgrades and further development. Advises business partners on the implications of standard or new SAP solutions that can be applied to a problem. Works directly with business process owners to understand current processes, their requirements for change, and recommend solutions using standard SAP functionality. If program enhancements or custom transactions are required, they will provide detailed functional specs for a technical developer / programmer, and ensures proper testing, documentation and handover of the solution to the business owners. Ensures ongoing support and maintenance of implemented and existing business processes and exhibits proven problem-solving skills including identification of core problem, analysis of alternatives, prioritization and execution of the resolution or escalation of incidents to the appropriate level. Guides and supports business users through the appropriate change management process for process improvements and system implementations.

Other Duties

Documents findings in appropriate artifacts, such as business cases, user requirements, functional and technical specifications etc. and seeks agreement from business users. Works with key users and subject matter experts to ensure adequate process documentation (manuals, SOPs, Work Instructions etc.). Organizes and/or conducts systems training to end users or power users. Keeps up to date with technical and industry sector developments. Supports the finance user community in all NAM entities, building relationships, promoting adequate knowledge and skill levels related to the use and ongoing improvement of business processes and solutions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent functional experience as a SAP FI/CO business user in General Ledger, A/P, A/R, Fixed Assets, Budgeting and Controlling. Minimum 10+ years of total business analysis and process support experience. Certifications in SAP Solutions (e.g. S/4 Hana) and/or project management (PMP) a plus.

Required Knowledge and Skills: Technical knowledge of SAP FI/CO module functionality. Application user level knowledge in as many Finance and Controlling related areas within SAP as possible. Medium to advanced knowledge of Excel. Strong Project Management Skills, including the ability to align, communicate and coordinate with external and internal stakeholders across functional and geographical boundaries. Ability to influence and guide decision makers towards consensus of requirements/solution, including prioritization of goals and projects. Builds relationships and trust with honesty and openness with a player learner mindset. Independent Self-starter with strong ownership, a can-do attitude and focus on results. Proven ability to learn new concepts and technologies and apply them to organization specific conditions. Excellent oral and written communication, decision making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

During critical projects with important deadlines, the environment can be stressful. Role occurs in general office environment. No special physical demands required. Occasional domestic travel (10%) may be required.
