Job Description:

Design Group is looking for a motivated, high energy, well-organized, collaborative senior mechanical engineer who has the ability to understand and deliver pharmaceutical and biotechnology A/E facilities mechanical engineering design packages. This includes plant utilities, clean process utilities, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, compressed gas systems, bulk gas, purified water and wastewater systems design. This person will possess the skill to execute complex projects and a desire to deliver outstanding work product to clients. He/she will work closely with multidiscipline engineering and architecture staff and develop mechanical design documents and deliverables for all project phases (conceptual and detailed design, feasibility studies, and construction documentation). This may include process utility distribution plans, ductwork/piping plans, P&ID's, plant / utility consumption summaries, airflow diagrams, pressurization plans, temperature/humidity control calculations, and equipment specifications. The senior mechanical engineer may execute work on multiple projects simultaneously as directed by project leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Design complex mechanical systems including HVAC, steam and boiler systems, compressed air, and plumbing systems for custom industrial applications.
  • Completion of engineering calculations and production of construction documents and T24 / COMcheck forms using engineering software; EnergyPro, HAP, PIPE-FLO, AutoCAD MEP and Revit
  • Act as Engineer of Record as required
  • Subject Matter Expert for mechanical engineering codes and other related standards
  • Maintain accurate and timely communication with the project manager.
  • Mechanical Engineer on multidisciplinary A/E project teams
  • Interface with vendors to accomplish equipment sizing, hydronic piping system design and selection of mechanical equipment.
  • Develop specifications, interface with on-site and remote cross functional project teams.
  • Inspect installations and perform site audits on existing equipment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years mechanical engineering experience in the design of industrial facilities systems such as: water, chilled water, wastewater, HVAC, cooling towers/condensers, boiler/steam or hot water and compressed air for cGMP, FDA, or ISPE guideline manufacturing spaces, HEPA and laminar flow design
  • 5+ years in a "hands on" mechanical engineering design role demonstrating an ability to complete mechanical system analysis, sizing, design, and report writing for Life Science (Pharmaceutical and Biotech) manufacturing clients
  • Knowledge/experience in the design of ISO clean rooms, labs and pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing processing spaces
  • Ability to perform mechanical design in REVIT and AutoCAD software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficient with written and verbal technical communication including generating reports and conducting group presentation
  • Willing and able to travel as necessary for project requirements to include but not be limited to: project installation and start-up activities, client meetings, company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, or conventions, etc.

Education
  • BS Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program

License
  • Professional Engineering License required (P.E.)
