TITLE: Senior Manager, Digital Engagement and Campaigning

REPORTS TO: Director, Digital Engagement

DIRECT REPORTS: Social Media Specialists (2), Senior Digital Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Public Engagement (Digital Marketing and Engagement team)

LOCATION: Boston, MA or Washington, DC preferred (but open to other locations)

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Senior Manager, Digital Supporter Engagement and Campaigning will report directly to the Director, Digital Engagement, and will be responsible for developing and implementing digital advocacy strategy to acquire and cultivate digital audiences to convert and retain activists. Manages digital advocacy and social media for Oxfam America and Oxfam America Action Fund. Produces and coordinates narratives and messaging for digital advocacy across digital marketing channels, including writing and producing digital advocacy petitions and emails. Builds supporter journeys and manages list buys. Aligns digital campaigning goals and initiatives with overall supporter engagement strategy and organizational priorities. Provides line-management and oversight of three Digital Specialists and coordinates digital marketing activities in close collaboration with the Digital Marketing and Engagement Manager.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Develop and implement strategies and create plans for digital-supporter engagement and online advocacy campaigns that align to organizational goals, and lead internal, cross-divisional teams and consultants to meet those goals.

· Write and produce QA digital advocacy emails and petitions with support from the Senior Digital Specialist and in coordination with campaigners and digital consultants. Train others on advocacy production and lead on quality assurance, segmentation, and integration for advocacy efforts. Develop and produce testing for digital advocacy.

· Lead across digital marketing channels and campaigns on best practices for developing digital advocacy and organizing plans and tactics that effectively recruit and mobilize activists.

· Project manage advocacy activities across digital marketing channels including email, SMS, social media, website promos and paid channels.

· Acquire and convert new audiences to activists. Manage advocacy lead generation (list buys and ads development), in coordination with the Digital Marketing and Engagement Manager (fundraising).

· Develop annual digital advocacy metric benchmarks, including email list size, in collaboration with Data Analysts in Public Engagement, Resource Development, and digital consultants, to understand digital audience performance and market trends and make recommendations for testing new avenues for list growth.

· Supervise social media specialists (2) and strategy across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn platforms, coordinating with Designers, Content Producers, Campaigners, and Humanitarian staff on content creation. Use Meltwater for social listening, reporting, and benchmarking.

· Proactively communicate and coordinate digital marketing priorities with Digital Engagement Manager (fundraising) and Digital Marketing and Supporter Engagement Director.

· Develop supporter journeys for new leads and existing activists with Digital Marketing staff and Constituent Product team. Build Digital Marketing team competency in marketing automation software, Hubspot.

· Develop compelling and engaging digital advocacy narratives and content using knowledge of Oxfam’s work around the world and public communications. Ensure all advocacy appeals are compelling, on brand, accurate, and on schedule.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

· BA/BS in related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

EXPERIENCE AND CORE COMPETENCIES:

· 5 or more years of related digital advocacy and campaigning experience, including at least 2 years of social media management experience.

· 2+ years of supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to develop and lead a team.

· Proven record of success in developing and leading digital advocacy campaigns that create change and effectively recruit and mobilize supporters across digital marketing channels.

· Proficiency in:

o Digital advocacy writing and production for digital marketing channels, particularly writing and production of email and petitions.

o Leading email buys with vendors like DailyKos and Care2, and via advertising platforms such as Facebook, and with social media publishing, listening and analytics tools.

· Experience with effective use of SMS in advocacy campaigns.

· Outstanding project management, negotiation, and organizational skills. Ability to plan and execute a program with multiple stakeholders.

· Familiar with managing campaigns and teams using project management tools like Asana.

· Strong marketing writing and editing skills (email, social media, ads, SMS).

· Skilled in digital organizing tactics and familiar with distributed organizing.

· High degree of initiative and commitment to goal attainment and quality standards.

· Good judgment and interpersonal, listening, and motivational skills. High degree of diplomacy.

· Proven ability to work as a team member within a cohesive team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience with Engaging Networks for eCRM; HubSpot for email, audience management and marketing automation; Mobile Commons for SMS; Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for social media management; Meltwater for social monitoring, analytics, and publishing; and Asana for project management.
